When air is heated it tends to expand, Here I have tried to re-shape some squeezed plastic bottles using a drill machine and a heat gun, by pumping air inside the bottles.

Pumps it fatter. Use heat to smooth out and remove lines. Very useful for people who use bottles in crafts. Can be cut into sheets with no misshapen bumps or whatever you need it for. Very useful for people who came here knowing why they did.

Despite all the negative comments I've read, this has the potential to GREATLY help in creating PET 3D printing filament. I've seen videos where people cut plastic bottles into long strips and have those strips pulled through an extruder, folding the plastic into a circular shape and making good filament. The problem is that without shaping the bottle, the uneven surface of the bottle leads to variations in the width of strips. This leads to inconsistent filament diameter and thickness, which in turn will certainly lead to under extrusion during printing and many failed prints. By making the surface of the bottle more uniform as shown here, most of the bottle can be reliably used versus only the part under the label in the case of a coke bottle. And the problem with boiling water is it's probably less efficient if you're needing to form a LOT of bottles (and one bottle only can make a few grams of filament, which would run out very quickly). So this definitely has some MAJOR potential in the area of 3D printing.

Boiling water actually works better, ensures even heating whereas here if you leave the heatgun on one portion too long you end up melting only that particular spot and causing it to expand more than the rest and it becomes thinner. Boiling water is guaranteed to hit it all evenly and its easier to time the duration to ensure all bottles get the same treatment, you can see how much the bottles expanded here and if you try this with multiple bottles I can guarantee some will be more puffed up than others and the more puffed they are the thinner the walls get, bad for consistency...

YEAH! It's not even like the typical plastic bottle video where they have endless Shrader air valves and make a huge amount of bottles hooked together by plastic tubes to make an air supply for some tool like a blowgun, but they can't cut the head off of an old refrigerant bottle that can hold 100s of pounds more air and you can put it in your vehicle if you need air. I was surprised I'd been a Subscriber, but I ended it!

I was hoping you would show a bit more about shaping plastic beverage bottles so people would have some idea to build on. All I saw this time was the plastic can be heat formed smaller, or with air pressure, larger. I have seen the same sort of thing before, but something was made, like an RC airplane models canopy, or crawling. Haven't seen anyone do this yet for wheel pants, or something like that, but one thing needed is how to glue formed parts together, or weld them with some of those fancy heat guns for plastic. I have a plastic welding kit, but nothing practical so far. Have seen some toy submarines made from plastic bottles, but not much on shaping the plastic. Hoping you will do more with this since there are so many of these plastic bottles used once and becoming trash.

What's the pressure (in psig)? How far have you stretched PETE (ratio of final L*D / original L*D)? Have you ever had a bottle burst? How hot/what pressure? How loud was the bang? Did it throw plastic fragments? Where they hot?

This look interesting but, no offense, I can't figure out why someone would want to do that. I thought maybe you wanna stretch the bottles to make them longer using heat, but it appears heat has the opposite effect and even that didn't enlight me on any application of your methods, so what exactly are the application of this craft?

He sure did change that contour Coke bottle, but I don't think that it's possible to increase the volume of bottle without recasting it. If you do want to do something constructive with the media look at a network of people who are trying to make use of waste plastic, Precious Plastic. I'm going to leave some space as I don't know if KZbin is cool with links, so take out the spaces! Wow! The blue hyperlink takes you directly to the same website that explains how you can make a profit from recycling and making useful products for your community! What could be wrong with that? Actually you dont need air pump just put water inside bottle, heat water and pour hot water to bottle it makes hot air inside without using air pump and can smoothen pet bottles test out on different bottles if it can smoothen it make sure to have a metal container to pour the water so you can conserve the heat.
