Ever since s3 started, Mathias has been the best part of the show. I'm really nervous about what the producers have in mind for s4 since it's already been filmed and they haven't heard from the fans about what they thought of s3. Excited and yet scared about what they have in store for him and Erik in the future. The show has major continuity and character development issues, I hope they address that in the upcoming seasons.

The creators said season 3 is about identity and who defines who you are. Yourself, or other peoples idea of who you are. That is why Théa and Felix have bigger roles this season, I guess. And Mathias figuring out his sexuality.

I understand the concept they wanted to bring to season 3 but I think it was an inopportune moment since many plots of s1 and s2 that were unfolding didn't get anywhere and adding even more of this new concept to a series of 10 minutes per episode makes everything confusing and superficial.

Just watched Ben’s interview and thought it was really great. Looking forward to this one as well. Teo is a really great Mathias and has a great singing voice too. Overall, we just need Mathias, Erik and Sara to go back to being the main characters that everyone is interested in, whatever their storyline is.

Omar Rudberg was an established boyband member of a boyband called FO&O (Short for Felix, Omar & Oscar - Felix Sandman, Omar Rudberg & Oscar Enestad), believe they even warmed up for One Direction at a point. All 3 of them are solo artists in Sweden today, and Felix Sandman also has been in at least two Netflix series. A thriller series called Quicksand and a Norwegian series called Home for Christmas. So in many ways, Teo being part polish and Omar part Venezuelan, and both of them being into music, there are similarities. Incidentally FO&O have a song called My Girl where the Polish-Swedish artist Danny Saucedo is featured, and where Omar sings part of the lyrics in Spanish. As most of FO&O, Rudberg, Sandman, Enestad and Saucedos songs and videos, My Girl too can be found on YT.

I had originally planned to skip that play, but to check out how Teo Tomczuk is on stage I might reconsider. Incidentally the actor playing the teacher so brilliantly funny in series one of Rykter/Rumous is at the same theater. Saw him in Cock a few weeks ago, where both he and the others were very funny, in a play that dealt with many of the same issues the Mathias storyline is reported to dive into. Sexual identity and -fluidity, and whose right it is to define what is what. Kristian Berg Jåtten and the others gave a brilliant performance of the UK play he had translated and adapted.

After reading the comments on this interview with Teo and the interview with Benjamin, I feel less out of place since I saw similar opinions on how the third season is developing. The tone is very different from what we were seeing until now and what had made us follow the series. This answer about what Mathias likes about Erik was as confusing as the series is.

But I kind of get, what he means with "Does Mathias really like Erik?". I mean you have to remember that Mathias has lost his friend group, which he knew since childhood. Furthermore, he broke up with Sara and that was definitely not a fun time for him because of all the emotions. But during that time Erik was always there for him, supported him, etc. and that made Mathias feel like there was an exceptional bond between him and Erik. And yes, you can say "Okay, if he is not attracted to Erik, why has he had a sex dream?" - maybe, again because Erik was the only boy having his back. I mean, he sees now that Eric is not interested in him and that he made friends with his old friend group, he starts to lose interest in Eric as well and is not as comfortable around everyone as he was used to. That may also be the explanation to why he wanted Eric to leave, not because he was hurt by Eric saying that the kiss wasn't important to him but rather because he doesn't feel comfortable around Eric any longer.

@@jonasfruhling5266 People don't have sex dreams, as you called it, about people they are not attracted to. People's dreams is the one setting where they are themselves 100%. There are many examples of people who has been married and had children only to later in life coming out as gay. One of them being a very wealthy Norwegian businessman. Mathias also in the first two seasons was a son keen to live up to his parents' expectations, but then gradually started to rebel against them, first by claiming to want to be a fisherman, secondly by leaving his parants' home. This search for independence could very well be Mathias subconsciously making sure he will be okay, should he tell his parents he is gay, and they rejecting him. That would make sense. Having in mind how often Sara and Mathias is said to have broken up and gotten back together, Mathias telling Erik, when Erik returns with drinks and sees something has happened between Mathias and Sara, that he and Sara have broken up permanently, that suggests something major has happened between them. And if you weigh that against what happened right before, when Mathias sat himself down between Erik and Sara in the sofa, and Erik made some kind of comment about Mathias' ass, meant to be fun and light hearted, but Sara wasn't smiling. Likely because she already had her suspicions in regard to Erik and Mathias. Afterall she spent New year's eve alone with Erik, and even kissed him, so he not being keen to prolong that kiss, and maybe even something more if she was willing, could have made her suspect Erik was gay. If she then that night in the sofa asked Mathias straight out what he felt for Erik, he could have come clean to her, but told her not to tell anyone. If Sara knew Mathias was gay, and suspected Erik was, that could explain both why Sara took Erik to a gay related art exhibition - she was hoping showing him how supportive of the LGTBQ community she was, he would come out to her.. It would also explain why she was so keen for Erik and Mathias to go to the fairground together - she was matchmaking, but because she had promised to keep Mathias' secret, she couldn't be open about it. If Mathias was confused, why did he angrily tell Erik to leave after Erik had said the kiss didn't mean anything, he had already forgotten about it? Mathias' eager to get Erik out of sight more suggest him to be upset, cause that kiss meant everything to Mathias. Erik dismissing it as a drunken mistake felt like a rejection to Mathias, so he needed Erik gone so he could be sad and frustrated about that alone. He didn't want Erik to see his reaction, so he got him to leave the only way he could. Poor Erik. His eager to talk to Mathias about the kiss - sending texts to Mathias on the trawler (which Mathias must have gotten, cause mobile phone coverage is extremely good these days), suggest him to be quite into Mathias too. But fearing the kiss was what had made Mathias as weird as Erik had felt him to be, he decided to pretend the kiss not to have meant anything, thinking that would fix their friendship back to how it was before - while what he actually did was ripping Mathias' heart out of his chest. To me that is the only explanation which connects all those scenes and reactions, including Sara and Mathias being happy to see each other at the latest party, but needing to talk in private, after having broken up for good. I can't find away of connecting all those dots, unless Erik and Mathias are predominantly gay, Sara knows about them both, but has promised Mathias not to tell, and Erik has yet to tell her officially. When you write a character, for that character to feel genuine to an audience his/her actions and reactions has to be rooted in the character's personality or experiences. But more importantly, going forward what has shaped that character so far will restrict what actions/reactions that character can have in the future. That doesn't mean a character can't change, but the change has to be shown to the audience, for them to find them credible. As an example it is perfectly possible for Synnøve to now be attracted to a guy she previous season was scared of being in the same room as, but that transitional moment has to be shown to the viewers, and that so convincingly they know why Synnøve changed her mind about. So far we have only seen him claim the creepy incident to have been a mistake - which perfectly well could be him gaslighting her. So I perfectly understand few viewers are on board with season 3 so far. With only around 10 mins per episode both the scenes and the lines have to be short and concise, and much also have to be said between the lines and with looks and tone of voice. That was something the first two seasons managed to perfection, but where season 3 has been totally rubbish. Season 3 is neither short and concise, focusing on a few key characters, but have both new characters and storylines thrown in left, right and center before finishing previous storylines, and even some pointless scenes with extras thrown in for good measure. It is a mess, and make very little sense compared to the much better season 1 and 2.

It's interesting how (if you know both cultures well) you hear all the nuances and social norms and rules. Americans are so flowery friendly and say fake things that Nordic turns off Nordic ppl. "I love that!". *4 example. Making new friends in Scandinavian countries is not easy, especially if you brag about stuff all day. Cold weather makes ppl more private and close circle. Mathias is my favorite character - he is smart, charming, thoughtful, altruistic and unpredictable. Spoiler is M is not in love, he's into sampling 😂

I can tell that Teo isnt fully comfortable playing a bi charachter given that he is from Poland and they are known as very homophobic. He even said when he auditioned he didnt know his charachter will end up being bi. Idk it kinda.kills the mood for me cause all im gonna think about now when i watch the show is that the actor isnt really comfortable.

@@michaelthomas3821 Maybe that's why we felt disconnectivy of Mathias and Erik relationship between season 2 and season 3? When we all thought their relationship will be flourish in the season 3, but turn out going to the opposite direction. We can't push someone to potrayed bisexual's happy relationship when he didn't even know would act as that character in the audition process. Not to mention that many people comments about Teo parents who come from country that quite homophobic. Is there a possibility that the director tried to find a middle ground with his parents? How they still can tell story of teen queer struggles WITHOUT tried to "normalized" it by giving him a boyfriend? I guess only time will tell. 🤷🏼‍♂️

​@@mecbranleur7879 Sorry, but I think you a little bit misunderstood about my comment. Whether his parents are homophobic or not is not relevant for me. But as someone who also comes from a country that is--generally--homophobic, I understand why they were concerned about Teo's role in Rykter. Although not illegal, same-sex relationships are also frowned upon in my country. It is seen as a mental illness and people who engage in it are vulnerable to being targets of hate crimes. So--with their son's safety in mind--I thought they wanted to tone it down by not emphasizing Mathias and Erik's love story. Or maybe I'm wrong. Since it's only my theory.
