Thank you for this video. I only do gel polish nails and started efile removal instead of acetone and I notice some of my clients nails are getting thinner and every once in a while I notice some gouge marks which infuriates me ugh!!! Clearly I’m using to much pressure and coming in at an angle with my flat edge bit. I switched back to my safety bit although I love the flat edge. I don’t feel like I’m applying too much pressure and my clients never complain of heat or pain because I ask and always tell them to let me know but after hearing you say zero pressure I know I apply light pressure. I’m all about the integrity of the natural nail so this is something I really need to get down.

Fellow efile newbie here! Something other tutorials mention and what I noticed she did as well was to keep the bit perpendicular to the surface of the nail. That tip helped me a ton when I was just starting with an efile on my nails (taking down dip manicure) Yep this post is 6 months old soooo I'm sure you're an efile master at this point lol but hopefully this helps other newbies. Thanks for sharing!

I so wish I would’ve had such great instruction and detailed explanation when learning to use a nail drill or e-file. I went to nail school 20 years ago and we only learned hand filling. I had to self learn with a nail drill and had no idea how or what a lot of the bits were used for etc. I mostly did hand filling which was so time consuming.

I love your videos, very educational 🙏 I'm wondering how you're e-filing when you have old customers where you can't move their fingers like you can do with normal hands. I have a lot of older people with rheumatism so their fingers and hands are stiff and finds it difficult to e-file them. Do you have any special tips how to facilitate it...🤗
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 2 жыл бұрын
When efiling, the best position to have your client in is sitting straight out from you with their elbows bent out to the side, not with their arms straight. This allows the hands to move/turn more easily. Make sure their chair is at a proper height and distance to your table so their shoulders are relaxed as well. If your client is not able to move into this position, you may have to be the one to adjust your position as you work. Be very careful and aware of your positioning so you are not straining your body.

If your bit is specifically for right handed people then it won't work putting it in reverse so yes you would need two different bits. If the bit doesn't specify, like our coarse safety bit, it can be used both directions.

You’re amazing. Thank you so much for your knowledge! I have a question kind of in the beginning of the video… You had approximately five bits in your hand and you said they are all 150 grit. I noticed one of those bits is the diamond cuticle ball bit coarse. Even though that one is coarse, is it still 150 grit? Or is that one also more like 100 grit as is what you had mentioned for the cross cut diamond bit coarse?
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 2 жыл бұрын
The Cuticle Ball Bit is a coarse grit, so more like a 100, but because it has such a small surface area, it tends to work/feel more like a medium/150 grit.

So helpful! Would the tornado bit work on removing gel x?
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 2 жыл бұрын
The tornado bit is a very coarse bit and is generally good for removing most artificial product. However, since gel x is not a product we manufacture, we have not tested this with out bits. You may be able to use the bit to remove the majority of the product, but you may need to switch to a medium arbor band or soak the remaining product to completely remove it.
@ThatGingerNerd

I know it was awhile ago y’all posted this video. But I do not have the bit you used to remove gel polish, can I use the mandrel with medium sandbands to remove gel polish on natural nails?
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc Жыл бұрын
Using an arbor band to remove all of your gel polish can take a long time and can also create heat on the nail as people tend to use more pressure since it takes longer to get the color off. What you can do instead is to use the safety bit (carbide with the rounded top) to remove the color and then you can switch to the arbor band to remove the base coat if you are wanting to completely remove the product. However, if you are just changing the color, you don't have to completely remove the base coat. Simply remove the color and re-prep the surface (including the base that's left on the nail) with the medium arbor band. Re-apply your Protein Bond and then go to your Base Coat, color and Top Coat.

If your bit doesn't specify if its for right or left handed, like our coarse safety bit for example, then you can use it in forward and reverse. If it does specify, then it can only be used in forward for the hand it's meant for because the grooves are made to work that way.

@youngnailsinc

If you are using your left hand, you do want to use the efile in reverse. However, the right handed bits are created to cut in forward, so they won't cut as well in reverse. You can use them, but using a left handed bit will cut smoother and easier.

I always look to buy bits from you guys but they are all defined by right/left hand. Do you all carry the coarse style bits for left and right hand? I am an extreme hobbyist and only do my nails but have to switch my rotation to work on opposing hands and don’t want to have to change a bit with every hand change.

Our coarse safety bit can be used in both directions. On our website if it doesn't specify a direction it can be used both ways.
