Love my Diamond cuticle bit! It is so satisfying to remove all that growth. Sometimes I wish I had more fingers, just to use that bit. I’m glad to know it’s ok to use to prep the rest of the nail. Sometimes when I’m doing a fill, I don’t really need the whole arbor band. Just the cuticle bit is enough.

Very thorough, I've been training myself until I can find a class I can take online an I learned some of this stuff the hard way on my own nails by making these mistakes, so thank you very much!

Excellent and needed information 🥳🥳. I have been wondering about a greener way to prep natural nails. I would prefer to use a sanitizable bit over a single use, disposable arbor band to prep the natural nail surface. Are you saying a diamond bit (at a slow speed and light pressure) can be used to remove shine from the natural nail surface? I'm looking for ways to reduce spa waste and cut back on single use items where possible.

I use a carbide bit for my cuticle removal... but I know what I am doing. I can use that same carbide bit to shave an egg. It's just about experience. I wouldn't use that kind of carbide bit to prep a nail though.

When I do prep nails, I notice the lateral folds tend to end up quite messy with white dead skin really down in the fold, any advice on cleaning up the area around the nail?

In this video, Karen shows using a smaller cuticle bit after the sanding band for that very reason. We have a few different options that work great. Here is a video on all of our bits and how to use them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmiUkqCro92AhpY

I don't ever see you guys using cuticle scissors and we didn't get a very good in-depth lesson in nail schoo on using theml. I watch so many ppl cut the cuticle and use creams or gel to expose it but I just can't bring myself to do it, I'm just not comfortable with it.. I have a few clients who want me to but I feel like I take care of it as best as I feel qualified with different shaped diamond bits. What are your thoughts on this?
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc Ай бұрын
When we prep, we do not recommend cutting the cuticles as this does open the skin to over exposure to products that accidentally touch the skin. If trimming hangnails is necessary, we recommend doing this after the nails are completed.

I have the same bottle of swipe and mine turned clear from the blue color. Can anyone tell me why?
@youngnailsinc

Swipe can loose the blue coloring if hit by sunlight a lot, it still works the same.

I’m confused because some people say you should never use medium grit sanding band on the natural nail. Only fine grit.
@youngnailsinc

We are using very feather light pressure at around 3,000-5,000 rpms.

Had a manicure with short french style last night and I got 7 cuts on 6 fingers some at the cuticle on top and some at the corners of the nail where the underskin meets it. All the sides of the nails where the nail grows out at the corners were filed when she was filing and so those area are either cut or raw and when she put the acrylic tips on those nails; they were glues down to the skin including those cut areas. My fingers are sensitive and painful. Putting water on my hands burn and continues burning for a while after it dries. I don't want to soak them off with Pure acetone because the cuts are there. What can I do to pull the crazy glue away from the skin under the nails? Help?!
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it sounds like the tech didn't remove the sharp edges of the file before using it on you. The biggest concern with getting cut would be to make sure they don't get infected. If the cuts don't seem to heal properly, we would recommend consulting with your healthcare provider. In the mean time, you may want to use an over the counter antibacterial product on them (some products have numbing agents that can help with the pain/sensitivity). Keep the skin hydrated with cuticle oil and this can also help break the bond between the glue and the skin. You can also try using acetone on a cotton swab to try to remove some of the glue. This way you can keep it away from the cuts.

I think I made the natural nail plate too soft. The glue didn’t even stick. I could not finish or start the set. Since the tip & nail didn’t stick

What are your steps for prepping the natural nails?
@lisacecil7963
@lisacecil7963 Жыл бұрын
I have a question for natural nails how do you keep from damaging your nails I do my own but I have ridges and splits but I’ve been keeping just clear gel on them for now
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc Жыл бұрын
It depends on what the damage is from. If your nails are naturally thin & have ridges, you can't change your genetics. However, if the damage is from having nails on, it is most likely a result of over filing, pulling product off or excessive soaking to remove product. If you have gel on the nails, you can continue to fill the nails rather than remove the product every few weeks.

@@youngnailsinc no I’ve always had long nice nails until I started getting my nails done but I’ve started doing my own nails an I’m trying to get them back from splitting an ridges I don’t have nails on now I’m letting them grow out I’ve been putting a nail polish on them to help them grow an get better what do you suggest I should use
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc Жыл бұрын
@@lisacecil7963 If you don't want to apply any enhancement product, we would recommend keeping a coat of YN Polish Base & Top (or adding color in between) on the nails. Also use cuticle oil several times a day to keep them hydrated & flexible.
