This song resonates with me so much. My father wasn’t the greatest provider. But I never doubted he loved me. His personal issues got in the way of his responsibilities. But I KNOW he loved me and that’s enough for me. RIP papa

I can also relate to this song. I didn't have a great relationship with my father due to things that happened when I was younger. He died suddenly aged 46 in 2015 and I was in total shock. It made me realise that I didn't give him a fair chance and I should've tried harder to build a relationship with him and forgive and forget the past. He'll always be in my heart 🩵

I can't emphasize enough how fitting your words are for me (English isn't my native language). Thank you for helping me translate some emotions/memories into words.

What a beautiful voice Paul had. So soft yet strong just at the right moments. This song, i truly believe is one of the best ever written. It is emotional, powerful and so heart felt. Brilliant.

My mother randomly started singing this so I played it for her. Never took notice of the lyrics until now... how relevant... this song will always stand the test of time ❤ what a beautiful message of love and forgiveness

My father tried his best. After my mother passed when I was 13 yrs old. It took him for a different turn and I had to grow up and help the family. I was the youngest and still am but just saying. Family will always come first. I still cry to this song after 28 yrs. My math might be wrong but my memories will always be burned in my brain and heart.

When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.
