How tall do you need to be to be a jockey?I'd like to try as long already have horses who I ride jockey style on.

there is not a height limit you have to watch your weight that’s it, coming from a jockey

im 5'8 and im 13 and im a speed queen and im too tall for riding jockey style

In Switzerland i can ride my first Race at the Age of 15 :)

It's the same for the U.S. You can get apprenticeship at 15. Maybe it's the same for the U.K. And this kid is just a late starter.

GaloppingDonuts good luck to you in your pony races. I wish I could do that but I'm to old and big now and there are like no pony races in the US. I'm working towards getting my apprenticeship now as a thoroughbred jockey. Its actually surprisingly hard to find trainers to take you under their wing where I live.

apprenticeship is 16 in UK, I'm in Ireland and 15 years old, going to be an apprentice or conditional when I'm 16 depending on my weight as I'm tall, conditional is an apprentice jump jockey
