I bough a new Gladiator. A good friend who is interested in buying one asked me how it drove. I told him it drives like a Jeep…like the Jeep I bought in the 80’s.

I think a cool video would be for you to find a 4 Runner and owner or some type of overland vehicle that you have not overlanded with. Then swap with them for a short trip. You drive and use their setup. They drive and use your setup. Then you can do a follow up with what they like/hate about a jeep and your setup. Then a follow up with what you like/hate about their setup. Would be a cool point of view fron 2 drivers in rigs/setups they've never used before.
@tarheelcountry18682 жыл бұрын
Honestly your indecision on newer jeeps and curious investigative approach in all your videos has really helped me personally make a decision on a newer jeep gladiator. I also have an 82 scrambler so I was hesitant of the gladiators quality but seeing your videos has really helped. Also the way that you present the trails that you are on and the trips, makes it really easy and fun to follow. Don’t knock yourself too hard; what you attribute as maybe bad has actually helped a LOT of people. As a side note; the gladiator with a standard transmission has preformed much better in a truck capacity than what complaints I have seen from the auto
@dbasiliere Жыл бұрын
Brad, I have a 4xe and after I use up the battery (30 miles in the summer and 20 or less in the winter) I get 20 on the Interstate and 24 on the secondary roads. Of course that is behaving myself with the throttle. If you spank it, that little 4 banger will gobble gas. BTW, I love your 392 and trailer setup, very cool. I also like that Jeep calls it a 392 (old school nomenclature) rather than a 6.4 liter. Reminiscing; I remember when my parents towed a 32 foot camper, they had a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with a 472 ci. (7.7 liter) GM V8 with 830 cfm Rochester carb. It put out 525 ft lbs torque and had rear load leveling air suspension. Ancient tech and when I look back it was quite ugly, however in it's day we thought it was nice.
@fscottgray97842 жыл бұрын
What people may not know is that you don't really feel the trailer is a hinderance when you have the power of a 392. Having that power on tap just makes things so easy when towing. I am loving outfitting my new power wagon for overlanding using a Kodiak canvas truck tent, drawers in the bed and Icky concepts Molle panels. Working great so far.

@bwofficial17762 жыл бұрын
I think they limit the tow rating because of the wheelbase. The 2 door can tow less than the 4 door, the 4 door can tow less than the Gladiator despite all sharing engines and basic suspension. They don't want a heavy trailer pushing the tow vehicle around.

We recently made the same trips in my lifted Lexus GX460 and the comfort is night and day. My GX wins hands down and we can also have loads of fun at our destinations with the GX, except for technical rock crawling. But, and it's a big BUT, 😆 the GX is a V8 and the Rubicon is a V6 so yeah, there's that. ⛽️ We love them both and alternate depending on feel and destination, and duration of trip. Love your content. This is great. I am 71 years old and purchased a new Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited with the 3.6. I have had it about 6 weeks and really enjoy it as my daily driver. I will never drive it off road and for me that is okay. I just like the look and the ride. I needed a smaller vehicle due to my eyes not being as good as they used to be. I came from a F150 loaded out into this Jeep and it kind of reminds me of a mini Ford Raptor it some ways? Since it is a dialy driver, I am considering doing some cool mods for looks only, like a platform rack etc. What do you recommend? Thanks so much.

It’s funny, I’ve heard folks say that Jeeps aren’t quiet or comfortable, but I’ve driven across the continent a dozen or more times in the last 30 years, 4 or 5 times already in my 2018 JLU, and I find it an absolutely awesome experience. Interestingly, we just completed our first (7,000+ mile) trip with a 3rd person in our jeep and discovered - much to my surprise - that the back seat is actually roomy and comfortable as well. I think it's a great truck for long-distance travel.

Just did 1,800 miles in my JLUR XR over Labor Day weekend. Coming from an Audi family, long trips are definitely a challenge in the Jeep. However you do get used to it. My current Gladiator would be traded in a flat second if they started putting a V8 in them. But for now it suits my needs and I can drive like a grandpa keeping my 20Mpg (barely) and still have fun. @vigilantemotors9 ай бұрын
Mitch I know this is an old question but I will say this. People who modify their rigs and want back exactly what they paid for mods plus the price of the vehicle are nuts. You are never going to get back what you put into it mods wise. People in general do not care if you spent 10k on mods, they are not going to pay an extra 10k for a vehicle because of that. So be careful when buying and selling when it comes to modifications.
