This is no offense to any content creator, but ACNH is better when you don’t follow a bunch of trends that are popular online and just build whatever island you want. Also, trying to do a strict theme burnt me out on the game in the end.

True tbh I got analysis paralysis and put way too much pressure on myself to try to make my island look "as good as" all the stuff I saw online. But it burnt me out so badly I ended up not even finishing my island, even after totally flattening and redoing it several times...

It's a fine line between enjoying all the super creative builds and designs you see online and still enjoying the game when you can't or don't want to turn your own island into a super elaborate themed thing After feeling down about my moderately modeled island i came to realize that many over-designed islands simply aren't /playable/ anymore. Where are you going to roll snowballs? How long does it even take to do a sweep of all the levels and nooks and crannies to find the fossils that spawn each day? I take inspiration from the super creative and talented people in this community but keep my island as my own little thing

Totally agree with this. I'm an animal crossing veteran (played every mainline game except GCN) and I just decorated my island however I wanted. Yeah I know its ugly and has no theme, but do I care? No. I'm having fun. I also just personally care more about indoor decoration and have trouble figuring out what I even want to do with all the outdoor space. I prefer a natrual look but that gets you punished so I just kinda put whatever furniture I think is cool outside. Also I made small neighborhood and money tree and crop farm annnnd that's about it. If I could I'd honestly just have paths on my island and no furniture outside like how I did in the older games, but again that punishes you. Overall I really do feel like I've had a lot more fun doing my own thing rather then just following trends. I think being autistic helped because I'm not the type of person to even follow trends in the first place.

I agree, I came back to the game recently and made my island as bare bones as possible, like very basic terraforming and barely any custom paths, this helped me get back into the game low key, it makes decorating feel more exciting and less stressful, also left more room to let the game be played how it’s suppose to, talk to villagers, form relationships with them, play the dlc, etc.

I’ll be completely honest. I think a lot of people value nostalgia and always expect each installment in a series to be in the exact same formula. New Horizons may not be the greatest to a lot of people content-wise, but overall it’s still a great game if you wanna relax or decorate. Personally, I like that game and New Leaf almost equally but it’s okay if people think differently about this

ACNH is great, but crafting-wise, I wish you'd be able to make more than one item at a time. Also, when you're trying to decorate the main room & you get visitors with the worst timing. You can run to any other room to wait it out, but it does get annoying not being able to decorate without interruptions.

My biggest issue with New Horizons is that I never felt the connection with villagers that I've had in the previous game. Don't get me wrong I love designing my town to every degree, but I wish we had more character dialogue lol

i agree, but for me, it's not even the dialogue that's the problem. i wish that the interactions where they run up to you were more personal. for the most part, it's either changing their catchphrase (which is cool), buying or selling something from them (eyeroll), or learning a reaction. it's not personal. i wish they would like run up to you and ask you questions about your life and tell you things about their life. like in new leaf when there was the april fools challenge and working for brewster, the villagers would drop hints about their families and their dreams. i wish that was in new horizons!

Good idea, it's like in the first game or ACNL when you're with Rover and he asks where are you going? and you have a huge map with different terrain and types of zones to pick from.

I wish they would bring back Graciegrace and her expensive clothes and furniture. I have more bells then I could ever spend now. Love to Gracie! I loved the feature in ACNL when you went to town characters and past villagers remembered you. Felt more personal and not as if each encounter you are meeting for the first time.

I used to be against time traveling and treasure Islands until I realized how I had all these OCD ideas and didn't wanna start on a project just to have it later on not look right, imagine waiting a full day just to tear down a mistake you made

I think people will disagree, but I want villagers that are based on insects. It’d be funny having an ant villager being terrified of an anteater villager, or a honey bee villager being friends with bear villagers, etc. Also some more bizarre creatures as villagers like a snake, shark, dinosaur (since we can have a dragon and a mammoth) and a few other creatures. All of this so we can have more personality types like timid, nerdy, homebody, energetic, etc. This way, there’d be more types than you can have on your island, so the dialogue won’t burn you out so quickly, especially since you won’t have to have any repeated dialogue.

When people say they don’t understand Raymond’s hype, I think they’re asking how he got so popular in the first place. He only got backlash because he had so much hype. And I kinda wonder the same thing. He’s cute, but I think equally as cute as the other cats. No one cares but I’m a yapper so here’s what I’d like to see in a new AC game: • All the decorating elements are the same as ACNH but with new items • More of a focus on building friendships with villagers • More interactive items, like the villagers can use the carousel • MINI GAMES!! Games you can play with villagers and ones you can play with friends • Re-design the Gorilla villagers /j

I have 3 complaints, i wish you could craft more than 1 item and purchase more than 1 item of clothing at a time. I also wish the items were more interactive, I had all of carnival rides but I wish you could ride them even if it’s for like 5 seconds. I’ve played all animal crossing games I’ve been playing since it came out on GameCube. I love each game but I do miss how sassy the villagers were. Hopefully they add it in the future.

I loved ACNH but there are tons of things missing in NH compared to other AC games. It’s actually a lot, such as no soccer or basketball anymore (at least not one that you can kick around, which to me kinda defeats the purpose of the soccer nets), there’s no missions from villagers which just makes me feels empty walking around my island and not really giving me a reason to ever want to talk to my villagers, there’s no hide and go seek mini game like in other AC games, there’s no real incentive to play with friends since there’s nothing to do once they’re on your island because tortimer’s island is no longer a thing, there’s no real reason to talk to whisper, even some of the items are still missing like the rococo set. There’s even some quality of life features that are missing as well, like making more of one item at a time, or the bigger Nook Store. Another thing that would have been nice and a qol update would have been adding the Megaphone, to use because finding Cj and Flick is kinda hard sometimes.There’s even some things like working at the roost or even the observatory that would have been a nice touch to the game. I just wished the devs would have showed this game more love. Weren’t we supposed to have 3 years worth of updates and only ended up with a single year? My island, personally, feels so buggy sometimes. It rains almost all of the time on my island which was one of the main reasons why I stopped playing. & since i started playing again, its rained everyday except one

Sorry but are you delusional... Animal Crossing games are all fundamentally the same for the most part, in terms of core gameplay. Just the details and add-ons change. New Leaf was already paving the way for New Horizons by introducing outdoor furniture and more town customization. They have a lot in common imo. One taking place on an island vs one taking place near a city street doesn't actually change much, it's just a different coat of paint.

​@@EternaMidnightYeah, but New Horizons is more bone dry when it comes to the storytelling aspects, multiplayer events, and most importantly, the villager dialogue. They got rid of a majority of little hidden ingame stories that they usually had that adds charm to the gameplay (ex. Club Lol, the pelicans, growing the tree, Gracie, hidden NPCs, actually good background music, donating bells, hide n seek, minigames, Isabelle's watch/time travel) Horizons has a lot less to it and it's mainly only about decorating whereas the other games are more focused on gameplay. Yes, they're all the same fundamentally, but it's Animal Crossing that's legit the point and what you pay for. And I disagree with your statement about how there's little difference between the town and island. In New Leaf, you had to accomplish more in the game and then pay off public work projects in order to gain more shops and areas. In New Horizons you got it through an update, so it's either suddenly there or after doing practically nothing you gained another area or boring thing to do. New Leaf is different than New Horizons, otherwise there'd be more charm and it'd seem less like a money grab.

Lrevious games, the axe had a visual indicator of how close it was to breaking. Small things like that. That was also a weird take, because ACNH outright avoided the old furniture sets, to most returning players' chagrin.

I generally enjoy NH, and will continue to play so don't get me wrong, but here are my top 10 least favorite things about the game. Let me know if you agree! 1. The music... Too much trumpet or whatever brass instrument/synthesizer they used. And the majority of hours give me a hyperactive, and repetitive feel which isn't relaxing to play. I moreso find myself playing with the audio off. 2. The villagers are heat-seeking annoyances... Every time you try terraforming, or gardening, etc. They can feel free to do their cute little activities, or even watch me work, BUT PLEASE. GIVE ME SOME SPACE. I resent having to shove all my active residents into hole prisons. Everything takes too damn long to build in the game for such interruptions. Which brings me to, 3. No "top-down" grid designer for the outdoors... Going one-by-one while terraforming, or pathing is such a waste of time for no good reason imo. 4. Animals barge into your home, uninvited... Forcing you through extra blabbering, and loading screens. When I'm busy, I'd rather avoid as much NPC interaction as possible. On top of that, I think there are redundant dialogue selections in many cases: like with Saharah, for example. 5. Predictable conversations, and garbage "gift" items they burden you with selling later because your storage is full. Then to me, having one of each villager nature seems necessary. I hate that I can't invite all my dreamies. I really don't want exact copies of the same personality. 6. Breakable tools... By all means, make the golden ones a challenge to obtain, but WHY TF is there not a permanent variation for end game!? 7. I miss old furniture series!!! Customization is great, but I'm not sure what's missing now. 8. Shop ugrades are nonexistent... There is less motivation to progress without this feature. Why not let us edit details/colors of certain buildings like the Airport, Resident Services, or the Museum to better fit our island themes? 9. Celeste deserves more... She needs her observatory!I'm sad one of my favorite characters is reduced to a lesser role. 10. Nintendo added farming, but excluded fruit varieties: lemons, persimmons, bananas. I'm sure I could think of more but whatever.

If a new animal crossing game came out: 1. Extend the amount of villagers living in your town 2. Make it a buzzy city! eg bring back shampoodle and add more stores 3. More personalities and villager species such as shy personality and bat villagers 4. A few more NPCs 5. Lower loans (it can be difficult to pay them off)

ACNH is my first AC game so I don't have any other one to compare it to. I think, the 2.0 update added a lot of new dialog to the game. If you walk up to two villagers talking you will find some interesting conversations are going on, however, the same two villagers do tend to have the same conversation a few times. Also, having different personalities on your island is the key to getting more dialog.

I'm one of the No time travel people. Ever! I've been playing over 3 years without missing a day. I've got over 400 million bells. I've achieved it in real time, and I'm proud of it ☺️ love animal crossing so much. I don't hate the popular villagers, but I really don't get it 🤷‍♀️

tbh time travel takes the excitement and engagement off the game, and its funny how people who says new horizons is "boring" simply because they got burnt out time traveling and have nothing else to do, it's literally their own fault and they blame the game for it.

33:03 omg i LOVE 3:00 am!! In my opinion it really captures the vibe of playing ac late at night. I really enjoy the derpy instruments, every time I hear it it feels like the game is laughing at me. It’s like it’s trying to say:“Hey you, why aren’t you asleep? What weird person would play at this time? Look at you, staring at a screen with sometimes passive aggressive animals walking around, customising your garden“ and that thought makes me smile every time^^

One thing I want to see in the next game are biomes, the maps are progressively getting bigger so why not add little patches with different grass colors and different types of trees, maybe a small rocky area or a forest with cool mushrooms and flowers

I think Animal Crossing Pocket Camp was okay but good items were hard to get, everything cost money, and after about 5 hours of gameplay, there’s nothing to do. I thought amiibo festival wasn’t that bad it just was misunderstood by the community. Other than that I think all the games are great. I would also like to thank everyone for their opinions it helped us open our eyes a little more and no opinion should get hate. If you don’t like someone’s opinion, just keep that in your mind.

Villagers inviting themselves over to my house, is the worst feature ever. Like i don't like people dropping by the say 'hi' in real life. I don't wamt to deal with it Animal Crossing too. 😂😂😂 Edit: Also while Wild World was fun, and it was my introduction to the series, i think it's also my least favourite despite the nostalgia attached to it. Mainly because later games gave every player in each game their own house. After playing City Folk, and New Leaf i just couldn't go back to it. I still have nostalgic love for it, but it's not the best game to go back to. I also do agree New Horizons needs more mini-games at least just to break it up a bit. I like the customisation options that is really fun, but it would be nice to have more mini-games, maybe even have prizes like crafting supples that are a bit on the rarer side could be fun. I also like crafting. But agree about the Golden Tools, breaking. The Golden Tools were rewards for actually playing the game they felt earned. So it frustrates me that they can now break because they can be a pain to get in the first place. So having them break makes something that felt like an achiement before feel like a chore because now we have to gather supplies to rebuild them and not everybody has the time to dedicate to playing the game every single day. So i wish the Gold Tools didn't break.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think New Leaf had the best theme music of the whole franchise, I think its music is leagues better than New Horizons (not that the themes were bad, just paled in comparison to new leaf!) ((Also, can you really say people aren't used to the music yet because it's 'new' when the game is four years old now?) I love New Horizons but there are a lot of things I miss from new leaf; perfect fruit, touch screen mechanics, the entire mechanic of making qr code designs (I hate trying to draw with a toggle and buttons, and I miss the perfect pixel effects nl had; I do not like how much the pixels are blended in nh and really wish we had an option for that) fruit varieties, mini games, businesses, and of course the rv cards (Sanrio is just not enough rv cards for me, let us scan and get furniture from all the rvs!) And lastly I miss the old villager personalities, I used to get letters from Purrl where she would basically say she didn't know I could read, and I loved every damn word of it! Also I loved Isabel in new leaf, but I HATE her in NH, like with a fiery passion.

I just Love the Curt Bear 🐻 Character in any Game he is Available in. I sadly lost my Big Brother in a Drunk Driving Accident back in 2007, my Brother never ever drank any Alcohol it was the other Car that T-Boned my Big Brothers New Car on the Drivers side at over 80 MPH… my Big Brothers car went Airborne and landed in someone’s Yard very late at night and landed on top of a Fire Hydrant that was in this Persons yard. I even Commissioned a very nice lady to make me a Curt Bear Crochet 🧶 Plush, I still have my Curt Bear Crochet Plush he never leaves my bed.

@@ilexdiapason If you search an Image of Curt Bear you’ll notice that he has a Bandage 🩹 on the very middle of his Forehead… this was the only Visible Injury on my Big Brother… My Big Brother Died from Massive Internal Injuries, Tearing, and Internal Hemorrhaging Severe Blood Loss and many Broken Bones, Ribs, Hips and his Spine was in Pieces as well… he was to Broken for the Doctors to Fix anymore. My Big Brother was only 22 and I was 19 at the time of this Accident. I still to this day go to call my Big Brother to tell him News about things… I’ll never get over the loss of him Ever we played so many Video Games together growing up I was always his Player 2 and he was my Player 1….. I stopped eating after the Accident I didn’t leave my Bedroom I slept so much all time just not wanting to wake up to the Hurt and Loss anymore. Im bawling my eyes out as I’m typing this it still Hurts to talk about, unless you’ve lost someone under Similar Circumstances it’s hard to Describe the Pain and Hurt I still feel.

the feature I miss the most me personally is the constellation maker in Wild World. I missed it in New Leaf, I miss it in New Horizons, and I hope it comes back someday. Making a constellation and seeing it in the sky was beautiful

New horizons is a really amazing game and i think changed the franchise for the better in a lot of ways, but like another commentor put too many people judged the game harshly just because it is so different from other games in the franchise. On that note though I will forever hate new horizons soundtrack lol like some of the songs are great but they do not match the time they're for at all like 7am music is way too exciting for animals just now waking up. and I really wanted the events to be a little harder, going back to that nostalgia older games events felt a little harder to get all of the items, toy day you had to try talking to your villagers and hope they talked about the toy they wanted and then you had to guess the correct toys. Don't get me wrong I'm glad the events are easier in new horizons but they are way to easy especially the international museum day.

I think when people find the dialogue bland aside from when they can play, miss dialogue, and not having that many villager personality types, but they possibly would like there to be straight up mean villagers and example would be sue e from the first Animal Crossing. All these characters and no drama where’s the gossip kind of things if that makes sense.

I think it depends on personal nostalgia is someone likes new horizons or new leaf or wild world. I didn’t have a nintendo as a kid so I got my first ever lite when i was 28 and experienced new horizons first. Recently i emulated new leaf on my mac and the game is awesome don’t get me wrong but i doesn’t appeal the same way to me as new horizons does. I just love new horizons. I wish nintendo made older ac games available on the switch or the next switch. That would be awesome.

My Son has never heard the 3am music, but I'm usually playing, trying to catch the scorpions or tarantulas. I am missing 4 bugs and can't figure out why I haven't caught them yet after all these years. I've never even looked online to see what I'm missing. Hoping to catch them this year then I can restart with a new island. I play every day. I do get tired of the dialogue at times but yesterday one of my villagers said something I've never heard before. Then later on, Big Top made plans to visit me the next day. Again, something new to me. I'm about to play now because at 4:30am Amazon came with my order. 4:30am! Sheesh. My hot take is, New Horizons is better than New Leaf sorely on the grounds that my character can be black. NH was my first dabble into the series, and when the boredom struck, I was told to give NL a try. It was very disheartening that my character couldn't be black in a 2012 game. At first, I thought I just had to buy the option like I had to buy my hair type. Annoying, but no big deal. But nope! You just can't be black in New Leaf. Which is even more insulting because they have the tanning mechanic. It bothered me way more than I thought it would, and I dropped the game after 2 days.

unpopular opinion, i am completely okay the transaction aspect in acpc, the game was free and they had to make a profit from it somehow, same goes for the hhd dlc, i am completely okay because it was completely down to the player if they wanted more content and wasnt pushed as a need, both transactions have been completely by player choice, it could've been a lot more like microsoft games...

I don't understand the hype around New Leaf. Idk why but after ACNH I find ACNL to be an incredibly bland game. Is it a good game? Of course, Animal Crossing has many good games that can still hold up. Have I been spoiled by new features causing me to look at an older game differently? Yes. If we do ever get a new Animal Crossing game I'm sure I'll think New Horizons is bland and boirng 😅.

I have my own gripes with NL and it's mostly bc when I finished most everything it felt empty and lacking a point to play if I didn't have much to do in game besides saying hi to my villagers. I had about 462 hours in that game, NL I have 1600+ hours and still play almost daily without feeling like it's stale or that I've run out of things to do. I tried going back to NL several times since 2017 and just wasn't super interested in going back 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe the next game will also make me feel the same about NH.

Hard disagree about villagers being more interesting. I've never had the multiple of the same personality types on my Island and they always repeat their dialogue and rarely give you other things to do. They're the absolute worst part of the game to me next to terraforming.

I'm used to the new horizons OST by now, but I absolutely hate it with the exception of a few hourly themes. I'd rather they just put in the New Leaf OST. the new horizons OST just makes the game feel more hollow and abandoned

You can't get bags from anywhere else but from kicks unless you trade for them, he is a necessity. If there's any special visiting villager i find pointless it's Label because most people only try her challenge once and then are over it. Also her clothes come in the Able sisters store the next day so there's no point in even doing anything with Label and her clothes just aren't anybody's vibe no matter how you play the game or what theme your island is, i don't like her clothes and i don't know a single other person who does. Every time Issabell mentions her in the plaza i feel like it's a wasted day because another character could have been in her spot to interact with.

It's funny, because New Horizons is my least favorite Naimal Crossing, and I have _oodkes_ of problems with it, but this is just wild to me lol I still have hubfreds of hours to play on two separate islands(and am trying to start a third that replaced the first, but the bunrout from how many loops I had to go through to trade villagers and items to my second island is wild. F*ck the campsite, man.) I don't hate the popular villagers, I'm just not obsessed with them and favor my consistent favors over the years. Also got super excited when Rodney was my guaranteed camper, he's adorable.

as someone who mostly plays new horizons in the morning, the music from 7am-10am, i think, is really bad. it's so grating and annoying. it doesn't have that serene morning sound that i look for in morning music. the other songs that come on when i play later in the day or at night, i think are great! but gosh, those morning songs. i can't stand them and i never could. they sound like commercial music.

Am I the only one who wishes animal crossing would let you have multiple worlds give or take like three worlds so you can make different islands. I think it’s a little upsetting. You have to stick to one theme. especially for people who blow through animal crossing very quickly don’t get me wrong. I love animal crossing but I do feel there are a lot of missed opportunities.

My hot take: NH is trash, and let me explain why... Being a game that is able to do patches, upgrades on the go, and and new stuff, it is a game that has stayed the same FOR YEARS. My fav event is Halloween, and it has been the same with the same f*ck*ng prizes FOR YEARS. I have like 10,000 Jack robes already, and I know Ill gather 10,000 more if I played this year. The developers have the oportunity to read and listen to AC lovers and do changes for the best, but they choose not to, and thats why I think the game is trash.
