Many of you have asked about my favorite open baffle speakers? Well, in this video, I'll be answering that question and more!
I'll primarily be discussing one of my favorites - Linkwitz - based on a visit I did at one of my subscriber's home. However, I will also talk about my other favorites and how they benchmark against each other.
Then, we'll do a tour of Michael's entire system and a future video will have music clips. There's a lot more than meets the eye to the Linkwitz speaker and Michael's room, so this video helps feature those important aspects.

It’s cool to see people’s systems in their final resting place in their homes. So many systems to be viewed and heard in the audio shows. But this kind of review with both video and audio and the owner being present to tell about the system specifics is a nice touch. Thanks 😊

I’ve been a huge supporter of Linkwitz speaker concepts for many years. I am a proud owner of one of his older di-pole open baffle designs, the Audio Artistry Beethoven Elites. The standard version (non-Elite) of the Beethoven was Stereophile’s Speaker of the Year in 1998. The Elite version like mine are a step up with a 2x4 active balanced crossover (standard Beethoven were 2x2 active crossover). Truly great speakers!

Yeah man. Linkwitz for the win baby. I know everyone comments about the "look", however the more i see them the more attractive they become. And i know hearing them, any concern about the "look" would melt away. I'm fact the uniques combined with the sound makes them more attractive. It's a dream set up for me. Congrats to the owner! I hope you enjoy them for many happy moons to come.

Thanks for sharing. What Technics speakers did you refer to? Myself, will be running a pair of GR Research Super Mini’s with the BG Neo 10 and Neo 3 planer drivers from 200 hz up. Will try a couple options below.

my listening room is 18ft x 12ftx10ft and all the walls and ceiling are glass....so I will be getting reflections should I move my hifi into another room ?

I'm a bit confused. If Michael is running the Linkwitz speakers through DSP, then what is the ASP crossover doing for him, or vise versa? I know that the Linkwitz system was originally sold with multiple amps and DSP, but due to some users' lack of experience with measurements and DSP, now it is only sold with the ASP active Xover to avoid that confusion. But why would you employ both?

An active crossover just chooses the rolloff of each driver... It doesn't even need to be DSP. It's just upstream of the amps, so some include DSP like anything else you put upstream. Michael uses the miniDSP SHD for his DAC, volume control and Dirac (which no active crossover has).
