I was wrong about Veiga so far. Even after his first match, I assumed he'd be about as useful as using a fork for a bowl of soup broth. However, his past couple of matches has not only shown that he has some decent quality, but he also suits the fullback stepping into the midfield role even better than both Gusto and Cucurella. Obviously, it's still early, and he's not played much in the Premier League, but I didn't expect him to even have much impact in the cup matches, so I have to applaud the scouting team for this one.

Same thing as Sterling at Arsenal. They're good additions considering the amount of money paid to get them there, but I can't see either of them playing significant minutes for their teams. Having said that, mere 2 injuries at wrong positions and the picture looks completely different. Which again is the sole reason they were brought in to begin with.

Chiesa didn't have a preseason. There's been talk of him possibly going on loan in January but i think he'll stay and get a few more minutes in the second half of the season - it won't be like when Robertson was signed from Hull (didn't dislodge Moreno until December) or Fabinho from Monaco (didn't start a game until late October) where once he starts getting games he'll be an ever present, but i do think, come Salah needing a rest or god forbid, getting injured, Chiesa will come good in the new year.

How can you doubt Califiori. He's shown nothing but good things over the past seasons, the only reason he wasn't integrated into the Azzurri set up earlier was due to injury concerns as he's already had an ACL injury. Scalvini and Califiori are the direct replacements to Bonucci and Chiellini, the only replacement that's required at the moment is one for Barzagli whose gap still hasn't been filled. That's the reason why we play with 4 at the back instead of 3.
