If they do up these taxes it will be a good incentive for me to not sell my main holdings btc , and hope in the future governments wake up to the fact no new money will enter the country due to ridiculous capital gain tax. I think it is criminal that the government can change the CGT rates during the current tax year. I earn 10K a year but will be classed as wealthy as I will have capital gains this year and next because I have been putting every spare penny and previous investments into crypto since 2021. If I was renting I would consider leaving the UK before the changes take place but l have a modest home in a cheap part of the country and sales are taking over a year in this area.

I don't see AIA being reduced to zero as anyone making any gain whatsoever would need to do a tax return in that instance. I work in an accountancy firm and from our dealings with HMRC they are struggling enough without adding thousands and thousands more who have to file a return each year.

You are taxed when you exchange to any other coin eg if you are trading in and out crypto,, not when you withdraw the cash. Sending cash elsewhere isn’t taxable, other than maybe for IHT.

Couldn't the government wait until 2027? lol A change in hiking the capital gains tax will wreck business not related to crypto. A lot of businesses are working on a knifes edge, so I believe it would be foolish to hike the rate too much, if at all.
