Professor Greene you talked in one of your lectures about how neutrinos may give an answer to why there is more matter than antimatter these days. Is there any math behind it and if so do they treat time as reversible?

Looking forward for seeing you tomorrow professor Brian! Amazing video and great explanation as well .. I checked this video out some time ago! I never get tired of watching it!! The bottle of water experiment is perfect, and at the end, the mathematics of General Relativity, a beauty!! Thanks professor!!

Could you explain why the standard model has one field for each type of particle, rather than treating e.g. all leptons as different excitations of a single lepton field?🤔

Hi Dr.Greene , in mathematics of General Relativity, What is the Difference between Space dimensions and Time dimension? can we represent Time as a Vector, like we do for Space ???

Hey, could it be possible to make a video discussing the basic math of string theory or some other quantum gravity theory? I have your super awesome book "The Elegant Universe" about string theory, but I can't say that there are many equations in that book. An example of an equation you could discuss is the Wheeler-de Witt equation. I have heard about it, but I have absolutely no idea what it says or how it's derived.
@frede19054 жыл бұрын
But I have heard that it says that time is an illusion, which is an interesting topic in itself.

Tell me if I'm wrong, most of the current mass and energy in Universe was condensed from the inflaton field after a tremendous expansion, so the total energy of the Universe increased. Does this break the first law of thermodynamics of energy conservation? It would be nice if you answer tomorrow, thank you

Temperature is the measure of random speed of particles. Let's say we have a box with a gas and it has a given temparature. This means, that the molecules have on aggregate some speed. Then imagine we double the volume of the box, which decreases the pressure of the gas and it's temperature. Now, the question is: since the temperature is the measure of the speed of the gas molecules, and the temperature went down, it means, that the speed of the molecules also decreased. How is it possible by simply increasing the volume of the box? We didn't even touched the molecules. They only have more space, so they collide with each other less frequently, but the speed should stay the same. What's wrong with it?

Hello sir. I had a question about quantum gravity..as we know ,the whole science community has confirmed the idea of general relativity as the theory of gravity.. every theoretical physics fan knows that it has been a huge problem to bring general relativity with quantum mechanics..so my question is that..what are the major problems ,we will face if we take quantum gravity as the theory of gravity..why we can't take it as our quantum mechanical theory of gravity?....thank you SIR ..I am Mrityunjoy Medhi from Assam,India

I may have asked the following question earlier, or chickened out: is the connection of/on a "surface" unique; for instance on the sphere can one define different connections, or different definitions of parallel transport?
@MyWissam4 жыл бұрын
This question was answered in comments episode 27 by Dr Greene. Connection not unique, determined by metric choice, determines what constitutes parallel translation.

I'm not a physician, but was always interested in the cosmos, black holes etc. One thing im wondering about, can strings go across our universe and be connected to another universe? And as you stated in one of your documentaries, there might be even another me and you, can we be entangled with that other me/you? Also another interesting part, at some point you or Allan Gut stated that there might be even new universes existing for every decision we not take but did consider? Cheers from Denmark and in the meantime i enjoy your latest book.

Question to Dr. Greene's Q&A tomorrow: Mass, or more specifically you said energies, are deforming or giving shape to spacetime ... and this includes electromagnetic energy. A charged particle in an electric field, when it moves (oscillates) there is a delay in the reaction of the electric field surrounding it (pertaining to the speed of light) and a deformation of that field... How is this deformation in the electric field related to the deformation of spacetime?

I was thinking: like the water & shore line, (where the water meets the sand) is there different regions in space, almost like multiple bubbles entangled together as one Bubble? If so, would that disprove multi Verse? Or at least point towards the notion of some kind of new Verse Theory..?

Hey Brian, could it not be that just as Einstein’s General theory of relativiity doesn’t work at very very small distances, it might not work at very large distance too. I’ m talking about inter-galactic distances here or even greater. Might that not explain dark matter, maybe dark energy too? Maybe the equations are just wrong and gravity works differently, at such enormous distances? As you can tell by my question, I am very much an amateur.

In your fabric of space demonstration you are the one giving motion to the objects. In our universe what initiated the motion of the objects. Do we think that the earth, for example, was launched at the time of the big bang? And if so how do we account for all the different motions ending up being our observed universe? Why for instance didn't everything smash into everything and get destroyed? Also how do we talk about that moment when so much energy was released?
