@COMotorsportsАй бұрын
I build manifolds and I always use 1.5 sch 10. The reason I build them big is because turbo/AR will dictate spool...so why choke turbo out with small runners, everyone always wants more. And if you don't then again run a turbo size to suite your goals. This isn't a manifold I built so I don't remember what size it is.

Have you guys tried Ignitron ECU? It seems it might more user friendly and priced lower (shipped ftom UK) than EMU Black. Also great support. Great build BTW. Looking forward to the next episode.
@COMotorsports8 ай бұрын
The reason we use emu black is because it's newer tech, global.support that you can pick the phone up and call 24hrs around the clock, the ecu can be used on pretty much engine size or platform, options that are available over ignition, product growth and options, and a handful of other things. I'm sure ignitron is good but for a bit more you get a lot more and can put the ecu on anything.
@UngluckInc8 ай бұрын
@@COMotorsports @05glisedan YAY!! This is where I get to chime in on, tell me what it can do that ignitron can't right out of the box? Let's talk straight and only 1.8t, not whether or not it will drop into another car. What the emu black can do before you buy extra sensors or replace sensors in order to use it vs straight dropping it in, for the 1.8t specific build guys. Seriously though, as you know I do tune all formats, makes and models and you obviously know my love of the 1.8t(I would hope after the last 116 years). For a long time 1.8t owner who wants a drop in solution vs other standalones, in this case, the emu black. For anyone else reading, i fukn love ecu master stuff and haltec, etc. So this isn't hating, only point making. For instance, Ignitron is growing, hardware and software wise. It requires no jumper harness, no replacement of sensors, etc. UNLESS, you want too add features(like flex, which is very simple) Out of the box I can do boost by gear, boost by speed, and a variety of traction control strategies and making them all switchable if so desired. Along with multiple boost maps(and switching) right out of the box for my ignitron customers. This is for a model that CAME with the 1.8t I am talking about, not a mk1/2 swapped car. Can even make a race mode to allow a total map switch(in a way) and such. If we just add a content sensor, we can expand that to full E85 and straight 93(which from the pump in the USA can vary from 3% to 12% currently) or activate blending, and have a car that can run everything in between. Which can also be calibrated as desired, etc. Also adding fuel temp just by adding the content sensor. It can do rolling launch, various forms of launch control and such out of the box in a 1.8t platform vehicle. Now, I do have more Ignitron experience than most in the Americas it seems lately, and that is because I started using it in my mk1 20vBT back in early 2019, so I have seen the ECU and company grow slowly and with purpose. I will say, mechanical health still matters, and like any other standalone, this isn't some guy who bougth a file package and just reflashes, so it isn't for someone looking to flash and forget. As many have seen with the content here, Dave and Co put a lot more work than the avg bear into all of this and Daves experience goes back to the beginning of the mk4 platform easily(cos he is fukn old). SO his opinion matters very much to me as a long time mk1 vortex homie. But I will disagree that, for most 1.8t owners looking to take the next step, Ignitron is viable option if they are willing to listen, learn and take on more than they have with their project when it comes to knowledge and hands on work, especially tuning, but is much much easier than diving into an EMU/haltec/ecu master standalone setup. And any competent tuner can handle Ignitron. In no way am I saying the emu black is a lesser control unit, that is not the case, but...for the 1.8t 20v specifically, as a drop in solution...nothing is like it.
@scotslad298 ай бұрын
Do you guys ever use the Ignitron ECU for your 1.8t builds ? Also would you have a part number or more info on the fuel pressure regulator? Definitely looking forward to seeing more on this build 👍

@COMotorsports8 ай бұрын
On most vehicles it can really help with spool, however on these it's a bit more primitive setup. I've never done a back to back comparison to see plus vs minuses on these engines to be honest. However we do delete it a lot on larger power setups.

They say if it's on from 2k rpm to 5k rpm you see a torque increase then after 5k you see a torque decline from having it on after that. I've tuned brz and 350z and can confirm on a dyno I have seen the factory maps have vvt turned on in the mid range and off at high rpm on these cars. Both brz and 350z gain torque by adding 5-10 degree cam advance in the mid range but benefit nothing from adding cam advance at high rpm I've tried it all back to back on a dyno was curious if you've tried it before with 1.8t on the dyno I have a friend has a link ECU 1.8t and link ECU has vvt off. There's ways to program an output on the ECU to turn on the vvt but I called link ECU directly and they said they leave it off because there's no benefit I've never heard a standalone ECU company say this before not sure if they were just lazy with their development/testing@@COMotorsports
