Awesome video guys! One note for anyone that is curious. with an aeb block if you go with forged rods you need to grind down a small portion of the inside of the block(intake side) to clear the cylinder 2 rod. If you go with a aba crank in an aeb block you need to remove about 60% of the intermediate shaft gear in order to clear cylinder 4 rod. I have pictures and measurements if anyone needs them.

This is very difficult topic, essentially all 20vt are the same but very different when you start comparing engine codes. You should consider engine code when you are going to run stock ECU because thats were the biggest difference is. Some come with narrowband, some with wideband, cable throttle, drive by wire etc etc. Proven combination for low budget sub 500hp is 225hp(if you have later model 150 or 180 with me7.5 just buy a second hand 20mm wristpins pistons) to start with because it has the 20mm wristpin, me7.5 ECU. Buy a set of rods and exhaust valves and thats about it. Turbo choises are endless, very good solution for turbo is a k04-064 from next gen S3 with adapter plate that will give you about 400hp with spool from 2500rpm.

The engine doesn't care what ECUs controlling it.
@aleksandaraleksandrov8213 Жыл бұрын
@@COMotorsports correct but if you are to start with a car with narrowband ecu, cable throttle body it is a pain converting to later model me7.5 wideband ECU and drive by wire. @aleksandaraleksandrov8213 Жыл бұрын
@MrOki419 Hi, depending on what you would like to do with the car. If you want nice easy to drive quick street car, definitely the k04-064 is the way to go. Rods are a must as well as exhaust valves. Also, you will need a minimum of 630cc injectors, bosch 044, or equivalent fuel pump and decent size bar and plate intercooler with at least 2.5" pipework to go with it, 3" downpipe with ideally 3" catback system and a very good tuner who could make work of the hardware on the stock me7.5 ecu.

Change the elbow on the block to a metal one. Then use 19mm oil/fuel grade rubber hose link the crank and cam breathers and either run to atmosphere or to a high flow lol can. Are you sure that problem with exhaust valves is in the valves or maybe in the loose chain?

Hey guys, glad to have found your channel. I am pulling my hair out with my cam chain roller count. Everyone says 16 but then it really counts 15. I have tried 16 inbetween notches and it ran terribly, I have 15 in between notches and it runs great. Even my Chiltons book has a poor diagram, that doesnt show truly the correct amount, as we all know the timing marks dont truly line up with a roller or a sproket tooth. Can you or do you have a video that clearly shows this step? Yes there are others out there but they "all" really have a bad video angle, or they just seem to count incorrectly. (I have an 04 Passat auto, with the AWM engine.) Thanks!

Sorry we don't do DIY's, we've discovered over the years that people interpret things as they want and we don't want to be responsible for people trashing their engine because of it. Those folks will likely do that anyways, but we'd rather not contribute to that. There is lots of great info on that engine out there, follow the book and it will run correctly, if it's not then you likely have something wrong elsewhere or your interpreting something wrong.

@@COMotorsports Thanks for the awesome reply, I completely understand where you are coming from. I guess the old addage, is if it aint broke dont fix it. Which to that I would add "but you can still make it better." Thanks again! I was able to swap it out no problem, after closer inspection it was more clear(ish) which roller lined up with the timing mark more than the other, so I went with my gut and all is well. Thanks again guys. PS Ive often thought about taking the longitudinal 1.8T with the front wheel drive and moving it to the back to make a mid engine rear wheel drive car. That would be a build I would love to do, but also love to watch someone else do.

06А Block is the latest revision of all which is found in S3 8L’s , Leon Cupra’s , TT’s They all share the same Forged Crank, 20mm Wrist Pin, Small Port Head’s in all of 210/225HP cars. They also use 9.0:1 Comp Ratio and their Pistons are the latest and strongest revision of all factory ones made by Mahle. The best you can get out of 1.8T is making it Stroker with Early TFSI Forged Crank & Ligther crank than 1.8T’s one. Wider Bore diameter up to 83mm. Worst and weakest point of 1.8T is the Head and it’s been like so always. Going over 550/600 is well worth to invest money into Gridle Kit with billet Main Caps and ARP hardware and last but not least Fluidampr for better harmonics ofcourse. Building the head is well worth to be Big Port , port matched , port flowed. The rest is personal preference. And last but important! Use HEPU waterpump and Pierburg Oil Pump only, these two are proven to be the best OEM substitution!

@@COMotorsports Which part of the written is wrong exactly? I own 1.8T S3 8L for 8 years now and it’s been thru few builts. All the info i wrote about stock components is very correct and I can assure that by the 1.8T list you show in your Video of which I know about way before I even own 1.8T I’ve seen many stock S3 pistons to be used on many 1.8t drag cars in my country ( Bulgaria ) on well over 500whp easy. I know few of them to live still.

@@andyhnio Without wasting 30mins typing everything out.. quickly. 1. not all 06A blocks are 20mm pins, for example this one is 19mm. 2. Stroker isn't' require to make power. 3. TFSI isn't the only crank that can be used for stroker, also I highly doubt the TFSI crank is lighter than the forge 1.8t crank. 4. Boring to 83mm is just taking material out of block, in turn making it weaker.... again not needed, and we typically avoid going that far. We'll find another block before going up to 83mm. 5. Girdle is 100% not required even up to 800whp+ as we've proven. Those are to name a few.
@andyhnio Жыл бұрын
@@COMotorsports Well, everyone choose how to built their engine by their choice right? What people get in America and in Europe is something completly different in term of final factory product. the followed vehicles I mention above share the same components all over. There are few people who proven the lighter crank on scale already, anyway that's not a point to be proven to anyone. 82.5 to 83mm is very common procedure in the UK especially. Regarding the Gridle kit I didn’t ask for an opinion I just commented my personal opinion based on years of following big companies in this type of industry building these engines from reliability to it’s limits. 99% of the Greekish 1.8T builts and not only 1.8 engines have been using Gridle kits to reduce the stress and prevent the block from flexing during high power applications. Cheap mod for what it is. Never mind, I do follow your content guys and I do respect everything you do and the information you share. Don't get me wrong I'm not a hater. Appreciate the replies.

A good topic would be Vvt vs non Vvt.
@matk22 Жыл бұрын
It's a non topic really. Vvt is used to add cold start up but people have used it for tuning as it gives 22 degree cam movement and 22 degree intake cam phase position is good for improving volumetric efficiency down low: even with the intake valve opening "overlapped" into the exhaust cycle, the earlier closure nets improvement in airflow. But only to a point. Past approx. 4800rpm the zero position is more effective.

@@dujuanjohnson5025 yes but it's already been discussed on KZbin and on forums. Its nothing special. Just use vvt to switch at a set rpm. Nothing too it since it's a on off switch there's no variable timing between the set 0 and 22 degree
