I honestly hope (with reservations) that this will turn out similar to the Sonic Mania success story, with Sega acknowledging the talent of their fans.

If Sega were smart, they would straight up hire and pay the team behind this, find a way to fit it into the engine used in Origins, incorporate Sonic 1/2/3/CD/Mania mechanics, and turn it into a full cross platform online game. Way more sonic fans would have access to it and the team behind this would be paid well for their work. Not to mention it'd make Sega a boatload of money. Literally everyone would win.

So that means the mechanics and characters of TT16-B, the greatest 2D Sonic fan game ever made, will be canon to this? *You don't even need to say anything else, I'm already hooked.* Now if they could also be given permission to implement art styles and content from other 2D fan games like Galactic, Overture, and Fallen Star then this might just be in the top 2 or 3 best Sonic games ever made. If they just let The Christian Whitehead team make continue to make 2D Classic Sonic games every few years, that’s easy money for SEGA! But instead they had to get pissy, demote the team to make origins and then subsequently throw them to the curb and then let the same people who made BALAN WONDERWORLD make the next 2D Sonic game. For those waiting: on Roblox a game called classic sonic simulator that perfectly replicated sonic sprites and levels and physics exists. The building is only done with chunks rather than custom level design, but made the same way these levels were made in the 90s

Makes me think that sonic could easily also have the different styles of gameplay like mario, with a master system style or game gear, the genesis ones, the advance games and their unique mechanics and then sonic rush style. I mean all in due time, but there seems to be a lot of potential in this project, more than a Zelda maker for instance (id love for a sonic cd generator requirement to be implemented as well, would be sick)

tbh i never liked the styles thing mario maker had. I like what sonic studio is doing with having one definitive style instead of locking content behind several styles

I personally don't think multiple game styles would work super well for this game, Sonic level themes are a lot less general than Mario for the most part, and you couldn't really have interchangeable physics with the different sonic games like you can with mario. Not to mention lapper and co. are already going above and beyond with the different times of day for each level theme, which I personally view as a suitable replacement for game styles.

Too bad it seems to have either stalled or been abandoned. It's been 4 years and updates have actually been slowing over time and now seems to have completely stopped. Considering it's the Sonic Fandom, I can't say I am surprised though. 99.99% of all projects made by this fandom are ALWAYS either abandoned, or cancelled due to toxic drama and in-fighting amongst the devs because the Sonic Fanbase is essentially a clusterf--.
