I like that you let your daughter have some understanding of what chemo was. When I was a few years older than your daughter, I was blessed with two teachers who were mentors (I was ill and they were the only teachers I had, who came to my house from the school to teach me), and both were diagnosed with cancer, then shut me out because they didn’t feel it was appropriate for me to see someone who was so sick, and within months I wasn’t allowed to go to one of their funerals because it was open casket. Now that my Mom’s been diagnosed with late stage Appendiceal Cancer, I’m pretty upset. It took me a while to realize it’s partially because I never... saw cancer or chemo. I just knew it was something that made itself known, carried off my champions in the night, and never let me see them again. I’ve had this irrational need to FaceTime with her when I can’t see her, because some part of me feels like I may visit and she’s suddenly as sick as my grandmother was, and that’ll be that. I never really saw someone living a life with cancer, I never saw the battle, just was told how it ended. I think it’s important for kids to see that having and treating cancer is a process. There are still rare good days, there’s still memories to be made, and laughter. It’s not a door automatically shutting you off from someone. The first big experience with something like this colors how you view it forever, and it’s especially good that she got to see someone “graduating.”

There is lots of misinformation in this video. You do not need to flush your body and pee every 30 min before your treatment. Also, not everything tastes disgusting after chemo. You will still eat and drink. Food just tastes different. Why would you scare your followers like this? Plus to say that nobody should be alone.. that's such a personal choice. Just because you like people with you, maybe someone prefers to be alone. Don't pity others and make them feel bad.
@AngelosDe11
@AngelosDe11 3 жыл бұрын
Wow, as a cancer patient still going through treatments, I didn't take it that way from this woman. There is some truth to what she says but she is sharing her experience and her opinion. Actually the part about flushing your body was mention by the chemo nurse educators that went over what to eat and keep hydrated at all times. Yes, the taste of Chemo meds do have a metalic taste and I was also told by other cancer survivors to suck on mints the whole time to help you manage the metalic taste. Consider yourself lucky you didn't have that problem but the majority cancer patients do and again mention by the chemo nurse educators too. Food and drinks do taste different after chemo treatments. She isn't pity others for choosing to be alone. It does sometimes feel lonely but having someone to talk to makes the time go faster verses not having someone there. Some people have that choice or not.

A good friend here in Dallas, Texas was diagnosed about a month ago with stage 4 colon cancer. He already had his colon removed about 2 weeks ago, and he starts 18 months of therapy with 3 separate 3 month intervals of chemo. I am watching to know what he might be going through, which is hard for me because I would take his place in a heart beat. He has 2 daughters and a wife. His name is Kyle... :)

It's so weird every video ive seen on KZbin is people going in just for a one day chemo treatment, maybe it's just my type of cancer (I have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukimea) but when I did chemo it was always at least a 4 day hospital stay. But I'm going in for a bone marrow transplant soon and that's at least 6 weeks in the hospital. I've been watching videos on what other people pack in their chemo bags, can't seem to find any videos of long chemo stays 🤔

I'm 66 and recently learned I have breast cancer. I've heard so many horrible reports about chemo that unless the 10-year survival rate is much higher, I don't think I'm going to have chemo. I've had heart attacks, and chemo is very bad for the heart. Why should I make myself feel horrible for almost a year so I can die of a heart attack? I'll have the surgery and do radiation therapy. But I doubt I will do chemo. I'm completely alone and have no one to accompany me or help me with anything. I would have to do this alone. It's not worth it.

Ro la hiya sweetheart! I would think 3 days a week wouldn’t be too bad but can you allow yourself a little time off at the end of treatment? It’s cumulative so it gets worse as time goes and I hear rads make you really exhausted as well. Be kind to yourself!!!!❤️. Also I didn’t choose the picc it was my only option at the time I would have chosen port catheter if I had of had the surgical option ❤️

Bring your kid to chemo? I am sooooo glad I don't have to have chemo with a child or children in the room. I don't deal well with kids when I feel GOOD, and darn sure don't want one around when I feel bad. Esp if they belong to someone else who feels that their child needs the "experience", or that it is their entitled right. Let me be in a quiet CALM environment, and keep the kids OUT!! I like your candor about the true nasty effects, taste in the mouth, and all the other assorted disgusting after effects of chemo that my MD breezed through by describing as "mildly uncomfortable." I didn't need the pretentious "green juice fresh pressed and makes me feel like I am doing something good for myself" comment though. It may have been what you did, but not everyone going through chemo has the money to afford fresh pressed anything. As this video is a year old, I pray that you did well, and have left this life altering event from your mind. I know I cannot wait until it is in MY rear-view mirror as well.
