I created a silent Furby with one of mine (just an experiment) and i think the 2012 (or Boom) are really cute without voice. 😅

Yes, Furbys are so incredibly loud that I would leave mine mute. I don't think I'd bother trying to disconnect the speaker in mine, though. I'm awful with technology and it's really not worth the risk.

It seams the motor died on the furby :( sadly booms motors die even NIB so even if you didn’t mess with the speaker the motor would have died later on

Yeah, some days after the video I was fiddling around with the gearbox and now it's moving again. Just one ear ist not moving. But to be honest, it is horrible to work on Furbys! Nearly as bad as fully automatic coffee machines! 😬

I've always been to nervous to work on the led light eyes furbies and the 2005 ones. The only ones I know how to fix is the 1998s ones

This was my first try, and I have to admit it is quite a pain to work on these Furbies. There is very less room to work on. :-/

This video should be called, the stunning way to kill a Furby motor, Furby Boom motors die very easily, Especially if you use cheap batteries, or weird brand batteries, which you did. You need to use regular Duracell AA, Not powerboost, just the regular kind, try to look online until you can find the correct kind, You will also have to get A new Motor.

Hi! Thanks for commenting. The motor was not dead, I disassembled the gearbox and put it back together, and the little friend was moving again. More likely my big speaker in this video caused this with its massive magnetic field. Every type AA Battery is around 1.5 V if it is healthy, this def. can't be an issue! 😉

@Schnort Surely, Duracell batteries are excellent! No doubt about it, but I would doubt that other batteries, like cheaper ones, will ultimately kill your Furby. 😜

Do you know if the 2012 Furbys use the same speaker? Mine is from 2012 and it stopped talking, as far as I understand the Furby Booms were a slight improvement on the 2012 ones. I don't have another Furby to replace the speaker.

Hey! I am not an expert in Furby repairs, but I did a quick Google search, and it appears you need a 16R, 0.5W speaker as a replacement. I hope this helps! ✌🏻
