@Brassard19852 жыл бұрын
@@PhantomVirus It is meaningless, but that does not mean that it does not matter in the college application process. It is a very important part of the application, and it is used heavily to determine scholarship allocation. However, it is meaningless in the sense that it is not standardized at all. For instance, a 4.0 GPA from an International Baccalaureate (IB) high school is not the same as a 4.0 GPA from a relatively mediocre public high school. However, for all practical purposes, they are treated the same in consideration for admission and scholarships. Also, it is honestly not very difficult to maintain high grades in most American public high schools. Plus, grade inflation is rampant in high school. For instance, AP courses typically more quality points than non-AP courses, and exams in AP courses are typically scaled heavily.

My school has a dual credit early collage program that is pretty intensive but what sucks is that these students will have to work 10 times harder to get a high rank than the students who are in low level classes.

I had a 2.95 Unweighted GPA and a 3.5 weighted GPA. GPA does matter sometimes, because I missed out on my state's scholarship because of my unweighted. For some reason, unweighted is all that really matters. Course I just graduated university, dual majoring and taking a minor, in four years, and I ended with a 3.45 GPA. So all is well.

For anyone reading that has a bad gpa here’s some advice your HS gpa matters but if you did bad like I did you’re not nearly out of luck. I graduated with like a 2.4 pretty fucking horrible. All you have to do is go to CC and this time give it your all and get out with your associates and a high gpa. Then you can just transfer to a University or wherever and on top of that you’ll spend less in total since you went to CC. Community College is underrated.
@fionna_cool_girl2 жыл бұрын
I had a 3.25 gpa at my highschool. Yeah I don't remember shit from highschool. If I were to take a test on everything I learned from highschool right now, I'd probably bomb it. It really means nothing when you study and regurgitate information for a test, then forget it the next day.

I heard a lot of colleges will instead look at class rank but for some reason my senior class is wicked smart so I’m worried. I have a 4.37 but that puts me at 17 when last year a 4.4 would have you top 5. It’s all the girls really, out of the top 17, guys take spots at 8,10,12,15, and 17 making me the 5th smartest guy but there are 12 girls ahead of me. We only have 160 kids so being rank 17 puts me out of the top 10% which might not look good.
@Dc-kk9bd2 жыл бұрын
Well if every kid in the class gets an A and you get a C, your probably dumb with a nice teacher. If u get the highest grade in the class and it's a C, your probably smart, but your teachers just a jerk

I wish this was true, because sadly it seems to ironically be a blocker for those who are the most interested in learning yet dont have access to the most resources including those who are inteligent especially because the more courses you take your gpa can sometimes end up lower even if you mainly did well just because of a couple of courses

Okay, what I believe this video is getting at is that GPA isn’t a well-off indicator when comparing to others. There are different scales depending on the school, the number of classes you’ve taken, how challenging those courses were, extracurriculars during said course, etc. If a college were to choose a 4.0 student who had only easy courses and a student with a 3.4 with difficult courses and extracurriculars, then they would mostly choose the latter.
