Unfortunately injuries & other issues forced ND to have a true Freshman and true Sophomore on the corners. So many starters out has definitely hurt. I also can guarantee PSU has impactful injuries too! Same old things to win and lose. Thank you for the All 22 video. Flashback to the old days of when the independents were very strong. ND PSU FSU Miami (Fl) and more. 😎

ND lost that game because it was the second game of the season and Riley Leonard was struggling to find a rhythm in the passing game. New OC, new QB, and only 1-2 returning starters on the OL was the perfect storm.
@IrishCarBombMeets12TeamPlayoffКүн бұрын
@@DerethACRiley was injured in the 1st half of that game as well, the staff didn't want him running the ball under any circumstances after getting dinged up in that one.. This, combined with the fact that Riley had missed all of spring practice and was playing catchup in regards to mastering his role in Denbrock's offense.. certainly created a bit of a 'perfect storm'- type situation on offense for the Irish in that one.. No excuses though. NIU won, fair and square. They whooped our O-line up-front and made the plays they had to make, when they had to make them. Respect to NIU-they kicked Notre Dame's butts and didn't back down one bit all game long. They also lit the fire of the century directly underneath Fighting Irish backsides, as we've seen since. lol
@thekksinca8242 күн бұрын
That play on 18:45 is not illegal contact by the LB on the RB for the same reason that allows SC slot receiver to block the LB in the previous play. The ball is thrown behind the LOS.
@hunterjohnson6133Күн бұрын
Is that based off where the ball lands or where the intended receiver is? It’s close but look like the ball hits the ground at the 36 and LOS was around the 38
@KyleJonesDrJonesКүн бұрын
Good catch on both! The block on the LB is what made the previous play work as well.

As a former olineman, I loved every second of this breakdown. Loving these videos my man. Interior oline gonna need to have a cerebral performance. Hoping we can get movement on our combo blocks with mills out and chunk the run game. Establish the run is gonna be big for Drew in the drop back. Gonna need to win on the outside edges with someone not named Tyler Warren as I suspect we’ll see a bracket approach. Glad you brought up that OSU tape on how they defended him. Still frustrates me how they said “beat us with someone else” and we couldn’t.

Great work Landon. Thoughts on just pounding the rock. We are bigger and can wear them out since they have D depth issues. Will help with negative plays. Warren and Dinkins are great blockers and can help push them back. 4th qtr we should have some big lanes, especially if they blitz out of them. Also looks like Georgia just missed opportunities and Allar is so good at buying time in the pocket.

What strikes me about the film right out the gate is that both Stockton and Maiava are backups, Stockton being in his first ever start. It makes sense why neither guy looked off Watts and instead got a bit of tunnel vision on their reads. Drew, on the other hand, has that savvyness and that experience to know to look the safety off, like you showed us in the Boise film. That's gonna be huge for him to pop the top on the secondary and get some true 1-on-1's.

I agree with the need to create confusion via pre-snap motion and misdirection, but more broadly speaking, do you think we go tempo and don’t give them a chance to sub or do we try to grind them? Indeed the reserves have done a very good job filling in, but presumably we can exploit their current depth situation

Drew knows he holds at least some responsibility for the loss to OSU and the loss to Nike. He understands this is his last chance to not fukk shit up for a 3rd time before the entire offense fails against Tattoo U in the final. Bet the ranch on Drew. Looks like a job for Superman Tyler Warren and the Fatman. Probly gonna be a waste to force the ball downfield to the WR's but I bet Singleton catching short passes out of the backfield will work. I like PSU's chances in this one.

It is interesting that you say RJ is the most talented pass rusher. I think half the ND fans would have agreed with you on Aug 30th as he transferred in with a seal of approval from Joe Alt of all people. Then he barely recorded a QB pressure all season. Now, ND fans will deride you for that take. As a ND fan, I hope the Duke 2023 version shows up in the game as he did against UGA.
@LandonTengwall582 күн бұрын
Yeah people went at my on Twitter for saying that haha. Here’s what I’ll say, I just think he has the best moves. He actually works moves and counter moves. I generally didn’t see that from a lot of other guys. But RJ doesn’t have the athleticism that 44 & 30 have, but I think their moves are really lacking He balled out vs GA, let’s see if that confidence carries over! Thanks for checking out the channel

If motion is the key to confusing the defense, then AK is the man for the job. A little surprised they looked as good against the run as they did. Some metrics suggest that they can be run on. I am hoping we can be physical and then catch them on a couple of cheap ones with PA.

Go be some dancing bears against Notre Dame we gotta be smart. Really hope we fix this cause what we were doing last week against Boise State is not enough for this game.
@msepeta2 күн бұрын
ND’s LB blows up USC’s RB bc he’s behind the LOS (ie he’s not downfield as a WR). They’ve done that vs other teams.
@LandonTengwall582 күн бұрын
Good point. And honestly that’s exactly what I mean. Al Golden has these guys coached SO WELL! It’s really a credit to him and his staff
@xmassan209062 күн бұрын
Seemed like we in a good place with Notre Dame being soft against the run. Why take a risk Drew being sacked trying to throw against Watts and that secondary. Gash 'em like USC did. Force Freeman and Golden to adjust. Love's not going to be 100%, if he plays, but Leonard can get loose too. Going to be interesting.
@xmassan209062 күн бұрын
Then again USC really spread things out with trips and a ton of motion to get Notre Dame off balance to set up the run. Could be be different if we get too conservative with decoys that nobody's worried about. Drew needs to hit Singleton and Clifford in the flat.
@gbaby13722 күн бұрын
That's what ND literally wants y'all to do is run first because they will play to stop the run which will force y'all to throw if the run game doesn't work right away then that works in ND favor. Also I don't believe states wrs are on USC wrs level.
@gbaby13722 күн бұрын
By drew allar not being much of a runner this makes it easier for ND. Drew can use his legs though so maybe Franklin tried to get him running out of the pocket that may shake shit up
@issaccody116121 сағат бұрын
I think this is total nonsense if PSU fans think they're gonna replicate what USC did if Indiana and Georgia couldn't.
@xmassan2090617 сағат бұрын
@@issaccody1161 Georgia's top two runners ran for 1,28o yards. Indiana 1,516 yards. Singleton and Allen ran for 2,041 behind Warren/TE blocking. We might do better than all of 'em.

I run a package of double tight power I with Kaytron at FB and Singleton in at the same time and pound the ball. Hell put Warren back there too! It sounds crazy, but their strength on defense is their secondary. Pretty much takes them out of the game. They are thin up front. Kotelnicki did say, if it was to our benefit, we would put 10 lineman in the game if we had to...just saying.

Mr. Tengwall. This makes two weeks in a row the radio station in State College has not broadcast a second of your show. I have never heard a more regularly incompetent radio station. I don't know how they so regularly screw up their own programming. The incompetence is breathtaking and you need to demand that they do better or take your program to another station. It's not just your program but pretty much every local show gets routinely screwed up. Whoever is running the board at the station is obviously not doing the most basic task of anyone who is responsible for a radio broadcast: to listen to the on-air feed. That's how you know something is wrong. To not do this most fundamental responsibility is exactly why this keeps happening over and over and over and over...etc., etc. I am a sports fan and I want to hear these various programs and I am regularly frustrated. I can't figure out how this continues to go on. How can no one notice and do something about it?

@@LandonTengwall58 The thing is you said "most talented" in the video, when it sounds like you meant "most technically skilled" - when you explain it like this it makes sense, but watching the video you started off saying he was the most talented guy and hyping him up and I almost turned it off because it was like - this guy doesn't know what he talking about. But once you started detailed about hand fighting I understood more what you were saying. In terms of talent, Bryce Young or KVA are probably the most talented.
