Nick, as far as I know, Canadians still cannot buy property in Italy. Unfortunately, that is due to our”Prime Minister” making the decision to not let foreigners buy property in Canada. Until that decision is overturned, we,as Canadians, will not have the opportunity to purchase that beautiful Italian home. Sadly, our misfortune! 😢

Ciao Nick, as I have mentioned before, I am in the process of looking into the move to Italy, I am second generation Italian, so I have roots to help. Good job on the Q&A, but the laws, rules and paperwork are daunting to say the least. I would suggest as well to have people register with your company, especially if they do not speak the language. Hi Nick, thank you for going through those Q&A's. I really hope your family member is on the mend. I do have a question that you may be able to answer; I have dual citizenship (Australian-Italian), but currently still live in Australia. Can I buy a car in Italy as a citizen, or do I still need to acquire residency first? Love your videos, and hope to use your services in the next couple of years.

Very good question Daisy and one which needs further investigation. I would say you would be unable to buy a car unless you are a resident. There’s also the driving licence, but I didn’t cover that. I had to give up my UK licence. 🤗🙏❤️

About your valued information, I suppose that your recommendations for eventual residency are for 'expats' from the UK and Non-EEC Schengen member country, as, a bearer of a Belgian passport, my Mother was an immediately accepted resident in France, and I was told the same to apply if I would prefer Italy to France. Hi Nick, firstly I hope your family member Claire is getting better. Thanks for another great video, which once again was very informative. Not being able to purchase a car without being a resident came as a surprise to me, but leasing for a while seems like a sensible option. One additional question I have is that once you have purchased a property as a foreigner, say with a UK passport (without any Italian ancestery), how long does a residency appliction typically take?

It’s a great question and one I’m unable to answer. It all depends on your circumstances. I would highly recommend employing someone to help you. 🤗🙏❤️

The UK is still in Europe, but it isn’t part of the EU, and the 90 day rule means you have to leave the Schengen, other countries in Europe are outside the Schengen Area, Ireland isn’t part of the Schengen, so I’m pretty sure that would qualify.
