The reason why anime eyes and eyebrows tends to be drawn over hair is normally because of three things: 1. It can be faster. 2. The hair is actually thin there and it's easier to just make the hair translucent instead of drawing individual strands. 3. To better show the character's emotions.
@fyrnxsovalineups62026 жыл бұрын
FudgemintGuardian I actually thought mostly about that third reason before I saw this comment.
@LilChuunosuke6 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU. Also I've never heard of anyone acting like it's some important aspect behind the general collective "anime style". It's just done for the reasons you stated, but is seen more commonly in Asian animation than in Western animation.
@fyrnxsovalineups62026 жыл бұрын
Total Trash Mammal Umm, Star and the Forces of Evil? They have that, too, and it's American. You can watch it on Disney.
@FudgemintGuardian6 жыл бұрын
@Push_Flick It makes sense why you'd think that first. Having a character's emotions expressed clearly is super important, but it's also due to time constraints as most manga and anime are normally done on a weekly basis. Basically a stylistic choice born from necessity, like how some cartoon characters (such as Mickey Mouse) have four fingers. @Total Trash Mammal The only time I've really seen that mentality would be in those crappy "How to Draw Anime" books. ....Which, come to think of it, the "anime" eyes Jazza did look very reminiscent of those books....
@melonlord14146 жыл бұрын
It's probably mostly the first and third reason. I mean, the whole Anime style was developed by mangaka that basicly didn't have time to draw properly because they had a week to make 15-20 pages of manga. They have even less time when they have to do a colored page or need time when they actually need to think about the story that they are telling. In some ways, it's really hard to belive that there are so many good storys if you see under what shitty conditions they are created.
@meanjean75486 жыл бұрын
The reason that anime eyes show through the hair is because it helps show more expression, that's also why the eyes are so big. Expression is important in animation.
@Some1StoleMyName6 жыл бұрын
Yep so true
@iminsideyourwaIls6 жыл бұрын
Cringe Oppolis same
@santaro546 жыл бұрын
Another reason is because there are typically 24 frames in one second of anime, meaning they have to redraw a lot. This makes it easier for them because they can reuse the same base and add expression on top of it.

So here is an idea: since you are a multidisciplinary (I hope that’s the right word for it) artist, how about recreating kids’ drawings with 3D printing - either by 3D pen or actual 3D printing. We all know that you always look for an excuse to try a different media to create your art (which is great by the way), you also could use some other techniques you’ve already tried in the past: Clay, food, VR etc :)
@Kitty-Marks6 жыл бұрын
*Jazza* your should try an art challenge in a PC game called *Card Life* . It's a survival game on steam where everything is made out of cardboard. In this game you can draw/shape everything. Your can craft a sword and during the crafting stage you can draw exactly what shape you want your sword. Same work everything (armor, tools, even the building material). You can literally cut the building pieces into your own design. I think you would be the best man for an art challenge for this game.

These are all 11/10. I think some of these kids should start channels. Imagine being the first kid to say, "I started this Art Channel when I was 3 years old. Now I've got millions of subscribers and I'm hailed as one of the top artists of all time!" Bow before them, mortals! 😬😈😠 Ahem...sorry. It could be cool, though! I'd respect that move. That's a legit power move. 😎

Wow! it's so cool seeing the kid's imaginations come alive by Jazza's awesome skills! I might try something like this once my channel takes off :) Great video man!

The groin is the front doors of the castle and the arms are the towers. The legs are probably the path that leas to the castle.

The main thing I struggle with when drawing is coming up with my own characters. I can draw Spider-Man whenever because I’ve seen him a million times, but with custom characters you have to make up what they look like.
@fyrnxsovalineups62026 жыл бұрын
I feel ya, I have the same problem, too. Here's an idea, try to draw without overthinking and just go willy nilly. Now that I think about it, I'll try that!

Get a picture of a pose that you can draw or if you want trace. Then, add what you want in your character. And you can advent from there at different angles and stuff. Idk that’s how I’d do it.

Jazza, I love that you approached this project with a legitimately positive and collaborative attitude! Seeing a redraw can be really demoralizing for the original artist ("mine is so bad in comparison!"). But your illustrations felt very true to the sources (which were surprisingly good in their own ways), and I hope the submitters feel inspired.

Interesting you see that as a vertical proportioned face on the robot. To me it seemed very clear that it was a long black haired girl riding in the top of a robot suit thing. Just goes to show how different people can have a different take on art.
