I designed the sanding block based on the full sheet sandpaper holder I made 2 years ago and you can watch that video here:
• Why Didn't I Think Of ...
I call this the No-Snag Sanding Block and after I 3d printed it I figured I should make it from wood as well. It holds the sandpaper securely and is compact and the ergonomic grip makes it more comfortable to use than a standard sanding block because it keeps you wrist straight.

I question a lot of the KZbinr woodworking practices too, but when it comes to this guy I just can't justify any criticism at all. He's like Jesus. He walks on wood. I bet that his wife is made of wood, and she's perfect :-) ( He should sell plans for her )

That sanding block has some ingenious design to it. Very nice. I noticed you added that wood to the top of your mini table saw sled. To make it taller for higher cuts? Yesterday I made a new one but I added an extension to the right side that can slide in and out. This lets me cut longer pieces using the stop block. I'll post a pic on your Locals page to see what I mean.
@JohnHeisz
@JohnHeisz 7 күн бұрын
I accidentally cut the sled in two pieces! so rather than making a new one I repaired it with that splint on the top.

Thanks for the concession of making this tool in wood. I know you have your heart set in working with your new media of plastic, but for me there is just something about wood that says craftsmanship. This is a completely subjective observation on my part, kind of like asking why one prefers green over blue, or Spanish Classical Guitar to Heavy Metal. Great video John thumbs up.

Too cool. I'm definitely going to print a couple of these. I always thought your creations in wood were pretty innovative but your 3D prints are a whole new level. I don't know where you find the time to learn the modelling software, I've been slowly learning over years, but I'm glad you do. Some great stuff John. Are most of your tool/jig prints in ABS? I might've missed where you mentioned it.
@KipdoesStuff

Most are ABS a few may be PETG. When in doubt use more infill, lol.

Is the lever just providing tension against the frame to hold it in place? Assuming the lever is just slightly proud of the handle base.

Is the outer base EXACTLY the same size as a quarter-sheet so you can use it as a cutting template? Might be worth seeing if such a modification is doable....Jus' thinkin out loud
