I have some of the yellowing deep in the lawn like you showed. I am aware of my Bermuda spots. The other areas vaguely look like fungus, I think my lawn needs nutrients. My plan is a fall/winter fert app. this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family-❤

I'm gonna say it needs liquid nitrogen. If the urine made it that dark green it typically shows you how dark the turf could be if it had more nitrogen. Liquid should be more effective this time of year as the urine is showing you. Happy Holidays to you and your family. May God bless you.

I had the same unhealthy yellowing issue and learned after a couple of years I was the cause of it. My particular issue was due to overcrowding from putting down too much grass seed (whoops), trying to make certain areas “thick”. The roots compete with each other and weren’t able to establish well enough to grow healthy top growth. I thinned it out and the healthy turf filled in…no more problem. 😁 Happy Turkey Day!

@@whosonfirst81 yep I’ve seen this before too. However, don’t think that’s it here. It’s always in certain spots, but you are right about that issue. Gobble gobble!

Wait for spring to spray. Beginning to have lower temps and less sunlight. Slow uptake on herbicides.

I have similar issues in the Piedmont. We have had a warm November, with that much less sunlight, especially in my shaded lawn and fallen leaves. Its also been damp. Warm and dark conditions are perfect for fungus so thats what Im thinking.

@davidstier3262 I'm in the piedmont as well. Backyard and side yard are flourishing still. Front yard due to trees lacking. We have had about 1/4 inch of rain lately and moderate temps

Give it a shot of RGS and some liquid iron. I had the same issue. Now I’m back to that pretty dark green in late November.
@MahjikM34 күн бұрын
Animal urine has a lot of concentrated nitrogen. That's why the center spot dies as the grass cannot absorb it but the outer grass is dark green because it was less on the outside. That darkness means the rest of the area could use more nitrogen if you want it darker. I'm not sure I'd care at this stage of the year, but you could put some down.

You could take some soil samples of the light green area and send the samples off to NC State or Clemson. It would be worth the $10 to find out what is lacking and ..and Mr Fergy, remember the fiasco with the Scott's Elite spreader you used on the project lawn? (You ended up throwing fert out by hand!This time of year you'd get that sample back in less than a week. Hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving..you and I both have a lot to be Thankful for✝️

Can you check the moisture levels in the bad spots vs the good spots with a soil hygrometer? Too much water could cause this as well due to lack of oxygen to the roots but it could be lack of water. If that is the case something like Hydretain would help. Finally it could just be going dormant earlier if the roots in those areas are shallow.

I believe the growth is due to intermediate temps. I'm just south of Baltimore and my lawn is looking great. I dumped a bunch of left over milorganite 2 weeks ago. The only cutting I'm doing right now is leaf mulching into the yard. After this mizzzzzerable summer I'm supper happy! Should be kickin' ready to go for spring. Everything is give and take right now and we've had a great off season to get ready for next year. But even at that and as blessed as we are, DO NOT EVER FORGET what is going on in the Appalachians right now. I can give up some FERT for those that unfortunately because of this miserable administration isn't taking care of our real honest American TAX PAYING citizens that are living in tents in freezing temps. Give until you can't Give anymore!!!!! God WILL Bless you!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry ThanksGiving!! Sorry I'm a lil' disdorksit LOL!!!!!

If putting down nitrogen in cooler temps, ammonium sulfate would be your best option as it does not need soil microbes to become plant available.
@mrheyz4 күн бұрын
The discoloration is likely due to something buried from construction.

Would an app of GCI 30-0-0 be worthwhile?
@G_Grip4 күн бұрын
I think you need to up the fertilizer game here. The soil quality at this lawn looks poor. If the rest of your test is anywhere close to decent then that yellowish color is a sign of a nitrogen deficiency. Just straight nitrogen. It's cheap if you go to an ag store in your area and get 46-0-0
@curtisleddy14084 күн бұрын
Maybe just needs some more nitrogen based on that pee spot?
@AlexKunstar4 күн бұрын
That pee slot tells you all you need to know. Grass is absolutely starving for fast release nitrogen. (Center is just over fertilized from too concentrated nitrogen)
@frostednugss41834 күн бұрын
How long have you been putting fert down here. If not long could be deficiency in nutrients. I've noticed others have the same thought in the comments
