Imo, the message they wanted to deliver , was already delivered way before the ending. The ending was what I really don't like. Not because it made me cry and wanted a happy ending. No. From a narrative pov. Kousie deserved Kaori. If her surgery was a success. And they didn't even performed together even a second time which really hammers a nail in the heart. Music took away everything kousei loved. His mother , his love. Hence ,to make the story a Little bit positive, they shouldn't have tortured our boy like that. He might have Seemed recovered and content after reading her farewell,but believe me, its not easy . Not at all. You would wish yourself to death.
@mayanksharma5006
@mayanksharma5006 3 жыл бұрын
Also the reason I think they went for this sad ending, was because of tsubaki. They wanted her to have a happy ending . Cuz she was hurt throughout the anime. And she might have deserved kousei but man, Kaori should have lived.

I've noticed that the sadness of this particular anime works differently than other sad anime. It's not like Angel Beats or Anohana, which are more about the closure of those who have already gone. When I watched the whole thing about four months ago, I barely cried. The emotional fallout happened afterwards, in a staggering, cascading way. It first started when I started sightreading some music from this anime on the piano and learning how to do them. The soundtrack is gorgeous. Then, after watching the openings and endings a couple times again, about a month later, I felt the melancholy slowly hit me. I started reliving the last episodes in my mind, thinking about the pain of meeting someone beautiful in the world, and then watching them leave the world behind. Something that will happen to most of us, eventually. Finally, when I printed out and started sightreading Nanairo Symphony, I had to lay on the floor next to my piano bench for a while, because the title of this show suddenly hit me like a truck. I realized Kaori lied because she wanted to spare Kousei the grief of love, if not the grief of losing her. Sure, the last episode told that to the audience, but I had not processed exactly how utterly tragic it was until that moment, four months after the last episode. This anime is about coming to grips with how fragile our hold on life is. It's about embracing the passions of life, not running away from them. And it's about the special people who come into your life and impact it forever, even if they themselves no longer walk the earth. ...I still hear Kousei whisper "Goodbye" sometimes, in my head. I have been irreparably damaged by this show. 5/5 stars.

I would like to add something to what you said. You remember the whole show had cherry blossoms all over? Be it when Kousei practiced or when Kaori waited for him. And even when she left him and he looked at the signal. I heard that japanese thinks of cherry blossoms as a significance of how truly beautiful being alive is. It is said that cherry trees blossoms only for a few days and then vanishes. Just like you said, Life is fragile and will vanish one day. That's what cherry blossoms represent.

@@jaxonlimle3960 What a coincidence you asked because I have just started learning the Ballade today. Even though it's only been 4 years (and I know my level it's not good enough yet) I couldn't wait anymore. I have managed to learn Clair de Lune by Debussy and I think if I put effort and practice every day (I ussually practice less than an hour a week) I can accomplish it. It has helped me a lot watching yt channels like Jakob Arnar (he also started playing piano because of Your lie in April and started almost at the same time as I did but because he practiced a lot he can play pieces that I had never even consider a begginer could play, like Chopin's Wrong Note Etude -another piece I would love to learn-). Along with that I'm reading a book called "Play it Again: An Amateur Against the Impossible" that is basically the story of an amateur pianist who tried learning Chopin's ballade no 1 in the space of a year and he actually learnt it. So in summary, those things encouraged me to start learning the Ballade. Sorry for the super long text and excuse me if there is any grammatical error (I'm not a native english speaker).

@43mohamedrazik31

At first the cherry blossoms in the background represent spring which in turn represents kaori since kousei described kaori as spring. Then snowfall begins which suggests that spring is fading away which means kaori is dying. Then kousei sees kaori as a imagery but in fact it is kaori herself in her last few minutes. Kousei and kaori are connected as said in the anime and kaori didn't want to die without fulfilling her promise of playing a duet. Then when they both start playing the snow fall becomes colorful depicting that being with kousei in the last few moments of her life made kaori so happy and everything seemed so colorful to them. Then kaori starts to fade. Cherry blossoms rush out of her chest revealing that blood is rushing out of her chest in the hospital and then she disappears which shows that she is dead. So yeah, kousei knew kaori was dead before he even finished his performance and that is why his eyes welled with tears at the end of the performance. Kaori apologized for not eating all the canales and for beating him up so much but she did not mention anything about the promise which is another testimony that the duet they played was not kousei's mere imagination.

Belive me or not, after watching this anime i decided its enough sadness and deppresion for me. I decided to go talk to a therapist. I belive that this anime is not sad, its actually full of happiness. They managed to realise their dreams, Kaori made him sing again and Kohei will always and forever remember Kaori as his lover and friend, even if he didnt tell her the words, she knew he loves her and he, in the end, knows about her true feelings. Don't be upset guys, life is like this. Im crying now, im crying in therapy, im crying in my car alone and you know what? ITS OK. Thats what makes life so colourful. The feelings of sadness happiness, sorrow, this is what makes us feel alive. I hope i can cure myself and follow my own dreams, exactly as Kaori did. And if you need to hear it, I LOVE YOU GUYS. The one thing that gets me about this performance, is that the watchers know that it is a duet, but the audience wouldn’t. What they are hearing would be only 1 half of a beautifully written duet, but that’s not to say they didn’t know it was a duet, they could tell there was more to it than normal. That’s what gets me to tear up. The way the writers were able to convey so much emotion without even having to explain it. I know I sound like a middle school English teacher, but everything was so beautifully made I couldn’t help but dig deeper and deeper. In terms of story, this is likely going to be my favorite show I’ve ever watched for a long time

I've played piano ever since I was a kid. I posted a few piano covers on my channel, but then I had my first ever professional proformance. It didn't end well. After that I slowly stopped playing. I started looking into other areas of music like programing, and making orchestra covers, but I was slowly walking away from the piano. The best way I can describe it is that my passion was slowly dying. But then I found this show, and after watching Arima's story, I started playing again, and this summer I get another change to perform at the same place I did before. This Anime was the fule that re-started my passion.
