To be fair to rich old guy I hardly trust my bf to do my laundry and I spent a year teaching him how to use the machine and how I like my laundry washed. He just does not have an eye for stains so I try not to let him wash any because it will end up in the dryer which usually makes it a permanent stain. It can also be difficult to get him to sort the laundry so that the cold wash/ warm wash/ wool/ dark wash (which uses different detergent) and using the right wash is important for color retention and to prevent wear, and I have seen him not set one of his dirty loads to soak when it needed to to not stink. I did a refresher course on how dirty is the wash = amount of soap and that seems to have taken but I do worry, and I still tend to do the washing. A professional laundress would have to be told so much how I like my laundry done and I would also still worry so I would rather just do it myself. If you have a good machine it really can be quite easy to do. You already know what has spills and whatnot. I have sensitive skin too so if you use the wrong detergent it will take several washes before I can wear it again and I would be very upset. The one thing I can count on is my bf always is sure to use the right detergent.
