As an insurance adjuster that has inspected thousands of roofs, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve climbed down the ladder and said “So, it looks like you’ve had someone clean the roof with bleach. Then the property owner would say yes I sure did a couple of months ago. Then I would always respond with. Yeah, your gutters are full granules because the cleanser is eating the asphalt that holds the granules in place. Also, the bleach is fading your siding paint. My point is if an inexperienced person washes your roof and they put too much bleach and don’t mix it properly you knew will totally ruined the house. It won’t show up though for a while.

Pool shock and other sodium hypochlorate products are algaecides, not herbicides. It will kill moss and lichen and not harm grass or other plants at all. It's typically non corrosive to exterior paints and finishes as well which is why is popular amongst pressure washing companies. It's what I use as well.

It doesn't affect the lawn. You should have extremely minimal runoff (if you're a beginner you'll have more). Just have someone on the ground spraying the grass/plants with water before/during any runoff or overspray. Then rinse the plants and grass after

You could cover the plants with plastic and use some slats to make the cover higher towards the home. Then when you have runoff you can point it at the outer edge of the planted area. See my comment about ants. It is right above this one by a few.

@noahstewart3694 in a 5 gallon bucket they recommend 1 to 1 ratio of bleach to water and a few caps full of liquid laundry detergent. But if you are using sodium hypocloride, you can use less because it is stronger than your normal bleach. I hope that helps.

You have epa regulations to follow and proper chemicals for roof cleaning business and dude the gravel it's a repeat thing with y'all. A blower will easily take off most debris with minimal damage to the roof and high concentration of bleach with dry out the shingles in a shorter time so instead of a possible 15 to 20 you could be looking like 10 to 12
