And so I would advise against that. Only take it off when you want to film something. Newsflash, your phone is designed as a tracking and spying device. You are the commodity. Big check and government can remotely access anything on your device, just like a hacker can. So if you want true privacy, don't carry a tracking device that's a mini computer that we use to make Phone calls. Get that DE Google phone. Keep it in a Faraday bag. Only download open source applications that are privacy-minded off of an FOSS APK Repository and still now would find my phone. They can locate you and remotely access your device. That's the NSA if they want to. And no, that's not some 10-foil-head conspiracy theory. That's a fact. If you want a complete secure building, don't put a door in it. Any door can be broken through much easier than a solid ball. The analogy is any type of tracking device, aka your phone you carry, can be accessed with enough brute force. Even if your device is encrypted. If you want to go deep down the rabbit hole of privacy, then never use any other browser besides Tor and the onion router and use a VPN. But VPNs are not based for privacy. They are simply to geolocate you elsewhere. They have nothing to do with privacy. And when you're finished using your phone, wrap it up in 10-foil or put it in a fair day bag or box or cage.

....you cant turn it off...designed not to tuurn off, especially iphone's. Stick some black electrical tape on front and back cameras or have sliders. The mic is always active, cant turn this off, bbut you can muffle the mic by putting the entire phone in bubblewrap and a faraday bag. Or, turn off all cellular connections, bluetooth, wifi and turn off all the tracking features and take out battery and put in bubble wrap and faraday bag. Very time consuming, but works

apps (Messenger, FB, X, shopping apps, etc.) usually request camera, microphone and location (map) tracker to turn on. You can allow the use if need be while using the app.

I can hide the camera with the cover, but not the micro, that can always be listening. The only safe way would be a switch to cut out the circuit, I think. My Lenovo laptop has that switch attached to the camera, actually.

If you turn off the networking feature then any internet-based functionality (e.g. filters etc.) built into the camera app will be disabled. If you don't use such features then no issue - if you do ........

I keep my cameras covered front and back with electrical tape . However , Don’t fool yourself . Between your smart TV your vehicle and every doorbell camera / ATM / shop security camera/ computer ….and anyone else walking around with a camera in their hand . We are all being monitored 24/7 365 . And all that is with the mainstream technology we know about 🤷. There’s population monitoring technologies Most people can’t even imagine . The only thing that is really changing is peoples awareness of the fact they are always watched . And every new generation of children growing up surrounded with this technology , simply become numb to the fact . Generation after generation of people simply grow up accepting it as normal .

All apps have built in OCR and script that accces your camera mic and photos. The permission only prohibits the user from using that app function but the app doesn’t need your permission
