I switched to the Onn 4K Pro on New Year’s Day, installed a preferred launcher in place of the equally busy Google TV user interface and have had zero issues. No updates blocking anything and it’s been working like a charm!

Amazon has been trash for awhile. Onn 4K pro for us in the states has been the primary replacement. Too much stuff blocked at this point and forced crap on fire devices .. good riddance

The pro version isn't really much of an upgrade from the 2nd gen onn 4k streaming box. I was going to "upgrade" but the cpu just isn't worth it to me.

They will go thru their OS replacement Vega first ...... the stick has many miles left in it unfortunately. I dont use one ..... I use a 4Gb/32Gb Android box ...... the stick is very undepowered for what it is designed to do ..... 1.5Gb ffs.

The idea that Amazon keep interfering with devices we've bought and paid for is annoying but minor tweaks like this don't bother me greatly. There may come a time however, that I decide to spend my money elsewhere.

Yeah this is the main issue that people have with Amazon. If i have paid for my device, what gives them the rights to fiddle with it and disable/change things. Imagine buying a car and then randomly the car manufacture makes changes to your dashboard / interior !

I buy anything it's mine, it's my property. I don't see why Amazon can just come in and alter it. They wouldn't come and add or remove a garden shed if you bought it through them.

On mine they’ve also removed the icons showing on my recently used tab, and the App section on home screen, only for the apps which are not from their Appstore. The only icons still showing amongst these certain apps, are ones which haven’t been updated yet. As soon as I update to an app to a new version, the icon is no longer showing, it’s a grey box. It still launches when I click on the box though. I just can’t tell which app is which so launch from “Manage Applications”. I tried going into the “Apps installed on this device” and it does show the icons there but when I click on the 3 dots to choose “Options”... Options” is now greyed out. All that’s there is “uninstall”. All non-side loaded app icons are fine though.

try holding down the play and select buttons for 10 secs to let the device properly restart. See if the icons come back after that

I have a 3rd gen. cube, i no longer use it, exept for the alexa to turn on my tv, soundbar, lights, ect... I have gone with the new Google Stream 4K which works much better, and you can run programs that Amazon has blocked on the Fire tv, things like custom launcher, screen savers, smart adb.

Can we still not use your TDUK Speed Toolbox anymore either? It still works on my older Amazon devices but the new devices it won’t even let you open the Speed Toolbox app to change the values. Is there a fix for this or a new toolbox you have to make it faster again? Can you do a video of possible 🙏 thanks for all you do, I’ve just been waiting for awhile and miss it on my new devices

I've stopped using my firesticks every since the Walmart's onn 4k streaming box came out I have the 20 dollar version and I have a couple of the Walmart's onn 4k pro streaming box

I just picked up a couple of these FTV4K Max units, and was like WTF? Why can I not hide or get rid of all of these apps? Figures. The only reason I am going to keep these two fire sticks, is for the 6G wireless function they offer. I have never had such stability on my IPTV since purchasing these FS units and the TP-Link Deco routers with 6G, or 6e. There is nothing on that frequency, and it shows. No issues streaming video, no more freezing, no more buffering, etc.

Hi TD... I got the update..but I have the 2nd gen TV box. I still have the ability to remove apps...but what it did was totally wipe out everything I had stored.. from KZbin to surf shark and all third party apps..it completely took out everything 🤨 And took me a few hours to upload everything again 😡

Yes I like the work around however if you disabled an app which helps keep it's main app in a pro format Ie SD maid the app wouldn't be pro anymore and that is the problem. When Amazon had the ability to hide apps tho the app pro key was hidden, the SD maid app still was able to stay in pro mode. Hopefully tho Amazon will bring out a fix to repair it.
