Look, the internet has created vast amounts of opportunity, no matter what your foundation is... Frankly, I'm of the mindset that if you have faced adversity that you're actually better off than people who haven't faced adversity because you're hungry and willing to put in the work to get yours.
Humbled that I was given the opportunity to give this talk at the Precious Dreams Foundation - let me know what your thoughts on this video are in the comments below ;)

Videos like this are the times when you really know Gary is on some serious legacy shit. It's funny watching a dude talking to privileged entrepeneurs about the opportunities of today, but when you see the same dude preaching the same stuff to people in a foster child foundation, you know that he's not on some bullshit, he believes. You can see how his tone isn't the same, but the content is. Major props to Gary, love the realness

That was my first observation as well. Super easy to be wealthy and preach it to other people that are driven as hell. Much different story to deliver that same message to youth that have lived their lives trapped and broken. That's when you know Gary is all time. And frankly, his words will probably do far more for those young people in this video than for some entrepreneur at INBOUND who wants to build the Uber of vacuum cleaners.

coscorrodrift yeah real talk. I'm glad you said that. I didn't notice it but only for one reason. I could tell that he was that way early on in my connecting with his videos, simply because he would intentionally wear the most plane jane run of the mill clothes on stage in front of 15,000. Or when he was infront of all the suits and he said, "a car......a car....seriously, is that what you wanna get rich for? Gimme a break?" lol. Or when he is garage sale'n. So I guess I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt who he really and truly is. So I barely noticed the "super star/minority kid dichotomy. But I am glad you pointed it out for the rest. I did however notice that his tone was different, but the pressure of his passion and intensity was still there. I really thought that was cool.

Been listening to Gary now for about 3 months and I just love you man, love how you straight up tell people, me, the path is a simple one. Humble myself, start with second hand stores, thrift stores, garage sales and just start flipping and not caring what other people think. And I'm doing it !! Making some extra cash and paying down the debt. Still not out of the woods yet, but its working. All I can say is THANK YOU GARY for all your motivation. Wish I would have found your vids sooner.

One young lady asked about negative role models. She refused to say who she was talking about. She could have easily been talking about negative rappers who record labels intentionally aimed at Black youth. Record labels encourage and demand rappers to disrespect Black women, brag about drugs and killing one another.

I went to college and ended up befriending a Kennedy. The new friendship made me want to know more about the family, she seemed so normal. It turned out the being a Kennedy was anything but normal. It made me incredibly grateful that the pressure that I have to succeed is self imposed, rather than an expectation imposed by my family name. The grass isn’t always greener and I’m incredibly thankful that I set my own standards for success in life, even if those goals are rather lofty. Cheers!

He always says he talks only about what he an expert in, that's our responsibility to educate our own abut our history. Gary's Jewish, and he just found out what Stockholm Syndrome is. He talked about some one selling water, some young Black men get harassed or arrested for selling water. Keep it 100.

Your philosophy on not caring about what people think about your Loses is the most powerful tip of all your advice end of story! I've been putting it into practice and it works but there are so many layers or voices as you put it Gary. I'll be like all good, progressing, becoming aware of it's workings and then BAM! In my face another layer/voice surfaces and stops me in my tracks. Here's to peeling away all those layers of fear and get quite up there!

@MCPvideochannel
@MCPvideochannel 6 жыл бұрын
I'm really trying to say that the fear of what others "might" think is not just deciding to not hear the voices as just one layer. It's like an onion with several layers. The past week or I've really been putting it to the test and noticed more confidence and letting go then I have felt since I was a small child. However new fears and voices surface or resurface for additional rounds of doubt. It's just not black and white it's a daily battle and that's fine coz I'm growing and just that little taste the past week even how subtle, I felt glimpses of being unstoppable. If that makes any sense. Never been one with words, so I'm not sure if I make sense expressing myself.

The end of the video hit me so hard. It’s so true that we let other people one up on us with judgement. If we could care less that others are judging us we will truly be free. At the end of the day we’re all doing our best. It’s that fear of being judged or perceived as inadequate or less than by others that is holding us back.

@RookieN08
@RookieN08 6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say that you take responsibility for everything. It's more of the fact whatever shit happens to you, you gotta clean it yourself regardless of whose fault it is. For instance, you can argue that it's totally unfair for you to be born ugly and poor. Perhaps, you're right. But guess what? It doesn't change the fact you're ugly and poor. Hell, you will be ugly and poor for your whole life. So, either you go do something about it or keep bitching about how unfair your life is. That isn't responsibility, it's Stoicism.

This was powerful. I've been watching your content all summer and it has been helping me shift my mindset into something more optimistic and grateful. I will be starting my second year of college tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited because I will be busy again and able to apply what I have learned to new goals. I am also starting my journey in the flipping game. Let's get it!!!

Gary, I watch you over and over trying to get across to the kids that you don't listen to people that are talking shit to you! Talk to the hand, is the result of your internal process to what they say. Remember people make meaning out of everything especially kids. You're very skilled at creating the meaning of what you're up to in your life and not allowing others or circumstance, to shift or redifine that meaning. You are clear that the blab blab blab of life, even your internal diologe, doesn't provide the meaning of who you are in the world. You chose optimism. Your choice provides that context to what meaning you chose to allow in. You choose who you are in life, you don't decide from what's the best options. You choose powerfully and you have automated process now that are extremely evolved in selecting the meaning associated with the conversations that make a difference or not; In having that possibility move forward. Explaining how that happens is hard because it's automatic for you and comes out as "I don't listen to them". In life what looks like a sell out, taking a job your not inspired by, with a different meaning attached, is a huge stepping stone to being able to move forward that possibility for more people in the world in a year. Like you say that 10 seconds if 5 years in a minute. I get who you are in the world you are the possibility of HUSTLE in the world. You're not own the Jets, you're not make Vander media the biggest, you're everyone can find something and make something better out of it with Hustle. That's what you are, you are the possibility of Hustle! Why you speak the truth is Hustle has no space in its world for bullshit talk. Thats why hitting a swap meet early is more exciting then a meeting with a Harvard Business School CEO. Because those early duds are your peeps, they live and breath HUSTLE. Thanks for who you are and how you represent it Brother V!

I really enjoyed how you said that not doing anything always loses it’s the truth and it’s simple. I also enjoyed how you said not letting someone have the upper hand on judgement it’s just so important to gauge your judgement versus others. I have placed judgement as a point of focus in my life now it’s great to see something that was always there but I wasn’t paying attention to my reactions to it and how it was really effecting me

Oh my goodness gracious! This talk was simple amazing! This is so important to these young people. Thank you! A new way of thinking! I have a child with Dyslexia, I have ADHD of the hyper, My 16 yr old daughter has ADHD inattentive, but they are amazing! The system of school has shot them down, I have watched their beautiful souls deteriorate. My 8 year old daughter once said to me in a quiet car (she is now 16), "MOMMY IT'S OK IF I AM DUMB, NOT EVERYONE IS SMART, BUT I AM STILL COOL". It took me 4 years to build her self esteem back up, but it's not quiet there. She is the most brilliant intuitive kid who has inspired me, but the system of public school keeps beating her down. the books are not for her. She has so much to give the world, and I inspire her to forge forward to find her passion. I sent a few of your videos her way because this is EXACTLY what I tell her. WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK WHAT PEOPLE SAY, IT'S ON YOU. So thank you. I just wish you could speak to the younger kiddies to start to get them thinking outside of the box, just to jog them out of the crazy mind set that everyone is the same. THANK YOU!
