Years back when I had a 78 K5 Blazer all set up for off-road and camping I had the power welder from wild horses ( I think was the name ) installed and it was AWESOME !!! It was expensive but I got it on a 50/50 Barter , it saved my ass a couple of times when I didn't have replacement U - joints and when my tie-rod busted . I regret letting it go when I sold the K5 and would love to get another one but that 1400 bucks can go along way in other areas right ....

Very helpful! I got mine installed today. Like you said it’s fairly easy install, the only challenge part for me is the red line connection with the fuse box under the steering wheel, for some reason it didn’t get power at first, couldn’t find the reason, then unplugged the fuse and flipped the other direction it worked. Weird, thought either direction would work.

@Senki207

Some people use their welders in remote areas. These are "mobile welders" usually mounted to a truck, usually powered by diesel / petrol generators. However, using an inverter and some huge batteries, it is possible to wire a smaller welder (usually stick / flux core) into a dual battery system (less "dual" since they usually use a powerbank made from multiple batteries). Welding on fences / cabins / remote infrastructure that doesn't have power is much easier from a truck modified into a mobile welding station that running idk how many km-s of cord / cable to the site, especially since it can easily be damaged by rocks / wildlife or traffic. Welders draw a lot of amps, so you don't want a live wire touching a puddle or something.

I have looked at several difference options and I can't help but believe using a controller like the Auxbeam is the answer. However I have looked in the engine compartment and I don't really find a place to install the control box around the battery or firewall. @@SilverSin I'm not sure about niligjht products but if I HAD to guess seeing as they're all pretty standard (don't take my word for it though) if you're talking about the actual pod itself, that usually taps to a 12v ignition fuse so that it feeds it constant power to illuminate that switch pod. thanks for the sharing! but have you considered to mount it on top of the stock fuse box (the plastic cover) instead of the side? If yes, do you think of any cons of doing that? coz i’m just bought the auxbeam but don’t wanna drill a hole into the rig.
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely I did. But think about this...there's a ton of wires coming out of this thing. If it's on top of the fuse box, when I need to get to it, I'll have to move the lid AND this box with all the wires. It's just a lot more mess to deal with. I would rather just have it to the side
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Also I would rather drill a hole in the rig where it's secure vs mounting it to a plastic lid because the box will be slightly heavy and I don't want it bending the plastic lid of the fuse box. Also if you drill the lid you'll destroy the fuse chart underneath it and I def don't want to do that

The fuse adapter originally comes with a 5A fuse, so i add extra 7.5 stock fuse on top to a 7.5A slot, coz add up its 12.5 which more than the 7.5A spot thst i insert, would that blow my battery? thanks!
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 жыл бұрын
@@finger8588 well the fuse is so that the battery doesn't blow lol. You have to figure out the amperage of what your powering and that's how you determine what fuse to put in. You can def swap the fuses but you need to get just slightly above the amperage of your accessory so if it runs to hot it'll blow the fuse and NOT your battery or start a fire

Does it have a Low Voltage Cut off?
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 3 жыл бұрын
No it does not. What I DID though was add a 100 amp circuit breaker so if it shorts it'll cut the whole system. But as far as low voltage it doesn't. I'm sure if I get a dual battery setup though I'll use the low circuit cutoff fr that

@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 3 жыл бұрын
It’s not the kind of mod that should. Normally warranties are voided if you’re switching out parts that alter the ride or performance of a vehicle (suspension, brakes, engine, etc). I could be wrong but this is just an add on that if you wanted to, you could easily remove it and the ride quality hasn’t changed
