Agreed. Same reason I want Andy & Alex to hear Bang Your Head (Metal Health) by Quiet Riot! We’ve heard it a billion times back in the 80’s ( ::gulp::) but it still holds up and A&A will love it! 🤘🏻
@joelhahn25012 жыл бұрын
This. This right here is why "That was so overplayed" is a *terrible* argument against A&A reacting to something, even when a band does have other, better songs in their back catalogue. A song may be old hat to us, but there's a reason it was popular in the first place, and it's new to *them*, which is what makes it special. And the popular stuff is the gateway drug that gets you hooked to come back for the rest...

In the movie Amadeus Salieri described his first hearing of Mozart: "Then suddenly; high above it, an oboe, a single note, hanging there unwavering, till a clarinet took over and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight! This was no composition by a performing monkey! This was a music I’d never heard. Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable longing. It seemed to me that I was hearing the very voice of God." The part of this song that I enjoy as a subtle display of composition is when Elton John drags out his note a couple of times a wind instrument, I think that it is a flute, in the background subtly picks up the end of his note and extends it. The voice and instrument supporting each other. That reminded me of that scene from Amadeus.

And the legendary artists you look back on now were introducing themselves literally week after week. Led Zepp you heard last week? Try some Jethro Tull this week. James Taylor? New Who? Crosby Stills Nash have a new song?. It was flowing like you can never understand. Got Your Song as a 45. This was before flashy costumes or glasses. Alex, the whole concert was goosebumps! Elton and his band were so good that words can't describe it. Saw him in Miami in the late '80s full costumes and wild glasses. Still amazing...but the coolest thing was that at the beginning of the concert, he turned around and said "Hello" to all the people with seats behind him (looking at his back, view) and proceeded to tell them to come down and sit in the empty seats he had set up right in front of him!!! Voted by people in Britain as Elton John's best song. Bernie wrote it when he was 17. Haven't Elton and Bernie been such a fantastic duo who have given us such gems. I can't choose between Your Song and Tiny Dancer as my fav

Every song from Elton's "Tumbleweed Connection" is worth a reaction from you guys. My personal favorite from that album is "Where To Now St. Peter".

Stephen Colbert has a running bit that where he asks celebrities a series of random questions. He asks, “If you only had one song to listen to for the rest of your life, what song would it be?” For me, this is that one song.

Reminds me when I was 9 and my parents got divorced. It was devastating. I found my solace on the weekends when I could be with my Dad. My Mother was a crazy drunk and I had to live with her during the week. My weekends were my sanctuary. I remember this song when it came out.

If I’m not mistaken, this was Elton’s first hit in the States. Still one of his best IMO. Thanks for the memories, guys!

It's a flat out S Tier song on so many levels. It's just a matter of what level you're personally on that dictates how it hits you in that moment.

This is one of his early hits, and he's definitely a rock n' roller! We were so spoiled in the 70's with great music! My very best memories! Philadelphia Freedom is another one of his early hits that usually gets overlooked but just as awesome!

I became infatuated with EJ after hearing this song as a young girl. The early Elton was the best. Madman Across the Water and Someone Saved My Life Tonight were always my faves as well. Bernie and Elton were the Dynamic Duo of songwriting!

Elton John wrote a tribute song for John Lennon. It's called "Empty Garden." Beautiful song. Would love to see you guys react to it. If so, thanks in advance.

"Excuse me forgetting, but these things, I do....I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue...anyway, the thing is....what I really mean: yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen." Absolutely brilliant words written by Bernie Taupin, and a heartbreakingly honest and vulnerable delivery by Elton John. It's just so perfect, and I can never remember the right color either. I think this is truly one of the finest songs ever written. S tier all day long. I went back and watched it again as soon as it was over.

I remember watching the Andy Williams show in 1971 as a senior in high school and he had Elton John on and Elton played this song. That is when I knew he would be big in the music business. This is such a great song.
