Prepoo if definitely needed for 4c. And like you said I do this to remove shedded hair. It definitely does help if you do wash day over 2 days. Thanks again for inspiring me to go natural. I’m 1 year and 4 months natural 😊

I love your Washday videos and I always look forward to watching them. I enjoy my hair and Washdays now because of your advice. While most want a really fast Washday when I takedown my protective style usually after 8 weeks all I want to do is pamper my hair and scalp. I get a quick Washday experience when I wash my protective style at the 4 week mark.

Hi Jen, thanks so much for this video. I didn't know much about shedding and recently after taking my 4c hair out of a 2 week protective style, I "lost" a lot of hair. While I was finger detangling (applying my deep conditioner) in the shower, I nearly passed out at all the hair that came out. I was really scared. But thanks for explaining shed hair, I now understand that I didn't really "lose" any hair, I just shed hair which is completely normal.

Hey jen, i need a bit of help: When i wake up, my 4c hair is clumped together and tangled. (I can only detangle and comb it after it’s wet, even then it’s hard to comb and hair falls out while i comb it). Even once combed, if someone touches it or even if i just leave it for a couple of hours it becomes smaller and more tangled. Up until today i’ve been wetting my hair very frequently since i didn’t know i wasn’t supposed to. I’ve bought coconut oil, shampoo, wild growth oil, leave in conditioner and a double butter cream for moisturising. I’m attempting to stretch my hair out for 3 days: i have combed it then grouped up sections and put a bobble round the group, stretching each section. I’m going to leave this for 3 days then i will use a moisturiser. I’d just like to know, are there any tips you would recommend? Can i co-wash with a leave in conditioner ?

I have ultra-fine ultra-dry high porosity 4c pen spring coils. My routine is slightly different: 1. Pre-poo for 30 minutes and then detangle with fingers and wide tooth seamless comb. 2 Shampoo once with scalp shampoo and once with moisturising shampoo. 3. Apply deep conditioner to damp not wet or dry hair. Comb deep conditioner through with fingers and seamless wide tooth comb. Apply deep conditioning electric heat cap and sit for 30 minutes. 4. After 30 minutes I comb through with the wide tooth seamless comb and rinse out. 5. Apply my leave in's on damp hair and sit for 20 minutes under the heat cap. 6. detangle in 1 inch sections with medium toothed comb. I do this every week unless I go to the salon or trichologists clinic.

Hey Jenn! I’m obsessed with your videos - I’m living alone and for the first time I’m transitioning from having exclusively box braids to a natural look! I’m so excited and have been watching your videos for inspiration; you’re a god send! Between the leave in conditioner and the butter (after washing) your hair looks a lot more dry - are you letting it air dry (and for how long) or using a dryer or just going in with the butter while the hair is still wet?

If you rinse out the deep conditioner with cold water won't that close your cuticles and not allow the leave in to penetrate, or should you just rinse out the deep conditioner with luke warm water. I'm confused
@qayyaksmith36523 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have the same question.
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
Depends on your hair type. I have high porosity hair so even if I rinse with cold water, my cuticles will never close that much. My trichologists also steam the leave in's in anyway. Deep conditioner penetrates the deepest. Most leave-ins just sit on the outside layer anyway.

How do your twists don't unravel when you're shampooing?
@JennJackson3 жыл бұрын
My ends aren’t blunt so most of them stay in (some do unravel like the back). That also shows you how gentle I am with my hair. I am not moving it all over the place and focus on my roots mainly and just squeeze the product through the rest of my hair 🥰
@1409musiclover3 жыл бұрын
@@JennJackson ok I see. I tried a couple times to shampoo with twists in but 1. My hair at the front broke off a bit and 2. The twists kept unraveling. Maybe I'll try to be gentler and see how that works out. I'm trying to cut down my shampoo+DC time which is about 1 hour.
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
@@1409musiclover it depends on how long your hair is. If your hair is below shoulder length, it's going to take some time so just accept it. My average wash day is minimum 2 hours and my hair is above shoulder length. 30 minutes pre-poo, 30 minutes deep conditioner, 30 minutes detangling. You can wash section by section. My sister and a lot of KZbinrs do that. You definitely need to be gentle. I have fine hair so I don't detangle on wet hair. No way! My hair is the weakest while wet!
