Through all this Paul had a thorn in his flesh which may have been a chronic health issue; certainly it was something that wouldn’t go away, which means he battled and struggled continuously……

This is the THORN that Paul was writing about. God gave Paul the Grace he needed to keep running his race

Paul tells us what the thorn was: a messenger from satan (not God), sent to buffer him. Buffer means to strike with the fist, to resist physically, etc. There are a few examples in the OT that tell us a thorn was a group of people who were enemies to the people of God.
