That was absolutely pain-free. I sincerely appreciate how well organized this video is. I didn't have Scripted configured at the time, so I first had to setup Container Station and run the instance. Next up will be configuring a reverse proxy and wildcard cert so I can get rid of all these "are you sure?!" dialogs. Never the less, with that one detour out of the way, the rest of the video went dead smooth even though I did not configure my surveillance station's camera integration to use RTSP explicitly (I allowed it to use the Reolink -specific driver for the camera).

🙌 Thank you so much for this! The camera in my Surveillance Station is set up using an ONVIF protocol because it supports PTZ, so I added the ONVIF camera plugin instead of RTSP and it worked great! (I hope that Apple adds support for PTZ cameras soon, fingers crossed for June's WWDC). One thing I noticed tough… the video playback in HomeKit is a little jittery, like every few seconds it appears to skip frames. It doesn't do this in Surveillance Station or in the MP4 files. It also looks a lot more compressed than it does in Surveillance Station. The camera is a Reolink E1 Zoom. Stream 1 is recording h264/AAC at 2560x1920 15 fps. Stream 2 is 640x480 at 15fps. I have HomeKit facial recognition on (but no difference with it off). Do you know what is causing the stuttering video? Everything is hard wired, no wifi.

Hi, great video. I have similar setup with scrypted running inside a docker container on my synology nas but when paring the camera with my HomeKit, I received only "Accessory not reachable" but the camera is working fine inside scrypted web ui. Any thoughts?

If you are using VLANS ... then the phone needs to be on the same network as the camera. Or Check the firewall rules to allow access between VLANS

Hi Eddie, thankks for a great video, for security reasons, my camera is in a different network connected to my Synology NAS which has multiple network cards through a switch. Now I have done all the steps but when I add an accessory in the home app, I can't find the camera. The Camera is only accessible through the Synology Surveillance station, is there a way to make this work?

Appreciate the feedback. Since you have VLAN's setup. You will need to make sure the Main Network has access to all VLANs - this way the camera can be discovered by the Home App

Hi Eddie, it doesn't work for me, when I click on the plugin Surveillance Station, my two cameras are there, when I go to pairing, I can try to add them (it even appears as a camera accessory) but after a while I've got the message "Impossible to add accessory, accessory unreachable", any ideas? I got it to work… not sure how but my camera now shows up on HomeKit. I have the wyzecam v3 pan streaming via wyze bridge rtsp and the picture updates every 12 seconds but when I click on camera it does not give me livestream. I have 3 cameras set up through scrypted. One via this method and two via rtsp plug in in scrypted. The other two work but the one done in this videos method does not show me livestream

Hi there, thanks for your awesome videos. I've got a Tapo C210 which seamlessly works with surveillance station, I did all the steps successfully up to the point of pairing the camera from Scrypted to the Apple Homekit app. It can see the device, but when adding drops a warning that accessory may not be supported. It then tries to add, but fails. Any idea what this could be? Thank you in advance!

Thats no problem since its not an official HomeKit Supported device. Or you can reset the pairing in Scrypted / reload the plugin ? it will generate a new code to add to Homekit

If I already have my cameras in Homekit using the rtsp plugin from Scrypted, would I need to delete them in Homekit once I re-add cameras using the surveillance station plugin? I currently have the DS1522+. Thanks!🙂 Update. After installing surveillance station plugin for 4 cameras and adding them back to Homekit, there's a delay of 10 -15 seconds before cameras appear. Much, much slower than rtsp plugin. Is the motion detection worth it?

Hi there ... there will be a delay since surveillance station will be processing the video feed .... The motion detection will only need to enabled if the camera hardware doesnt support motion. If it supports it - theres no need to enable.

Hello. Your tutorials are great, but I have been having trouble with my setup. I have Synology 920+, surveillance station, Homebridge, and a Ring doorbell camera. I have been having issues with HomeKit showing live stream from the camera beyond a single still shot when I first open, then I get the endless wheel. Also, this video you add a camera to surveillance station, but it is unclear to me how to add my ring camera. I don’t know it’s address, I was hoping that it would just find it through Homebridge, SS Synology plugin but it’s not and I don’t know how to point it to the camera. Thanks for your help!

You'll need to enable notifications for every camera exposed to HomeKit .. go to home settings > cameras & doorbells > select the camera > Enable Activity Notifications

check if the camera have dedicated IP addresses. Seems like they are losing connection. Additionally check if they are broadcasting in H264 format

Hey Marco .. since the cameras work on your local network and exporting the video feeds to HomeKit happens over your network. Your only defence is your network SSID password ... Been an active user for the last 2 years and havent had any hiccups. cheers

Yes that can be done. This needs to be set with the surveillance station.

I followed the video and succeeded in installing it. But the stream doesn't work in homekit. .It has been successfully installed on HomeKit, but the live video is only visible as a screenshot. The setup was successful in Synology but only the screenshot is being shown in HomeKit. I tried lowering the camera resolution, but the same problem occurs. I also deleted the router VLAN at all, but sadly it didn't work. For reference, the camera uses amcrest 5MP POE and synology ds918+ It's a real pity, it didn't work. I had high hopes and thought about it for hours, but I failed

please check the cam broadcasts in H264 and not H265 ... that could be the issue

"RTSP Parser" select FFmpeg(TCP) and to save,if success you can see the Detected Resolution and Bitrate have numerical value，go back manage to set local Stream 1 or 2. you can see the video in homekit stream.

@@tomsop as a temp solution - import the cams via RTSP and stream them to HK and use iCloud 10 days recording which doesn't go against your iCloud storage.

Hello Mirco - For cams to bradcast within the Apple Home app - *they need to stream at H264* ... You can also tweak these settings within the camera configuration.

Synology has app for android as well as iOS so whats the point of using homekit? We can directly see the recording in the synology app, it does not expose our setup, data and credential to Apple too.
