What a wonderful video. We’ve had ours since 1964. When my grandparents bought her. My grandfather flew B-24s and after owning an Ercoupe for many years he upgraded to a Swift. It was the thrill he was looking for after the war. After my grandfather’s passing in 1981 my dad became her caretaker. Him and I are still flying her regularly. She is the nicest flying airplane I have ever flown.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that, I'm happy to find out such a nice in place is in great hands. Speaking of Ercoupes, my old man had one back in the 50s and flew from from coast to coast with it.

@@bradleybenson8356 I posted about my first airplane ride having been in a Swift back in 1967 in Florida. The man that owned the plane was a retired Col. from the WWll Army Air Corp, and was a crackerjack pilot, and an all around great guy. I fell in love with that plane not just for it’s beauty, but also for it being my first ride in the air. My own dad bought a plane a couple of years later , and I nearly flew the wings off of that thing for a few years. I remember that first ride though, like it was yesterday. We lifted off the ground and he pulled up the gear and man did that thing take off. It was super fun.

I've never flown a Swift but I could see how it would be fun to fly if it had a decent amount of HP. 150HP would be awesome in this plane. I've flown complex aerobatic aircraft and I appreciate snappy handling. I own a RANS S-12 XL, which is a very nice handling aircraft. Handles like a small WWI fighter, if it could have the rotary engine torque assistance turning both directions. I don't really care how fast a plane goes as long as it is fun to fly. I mainly fly for fun, not to go places. I can enjoy flying a glorified kite at 85kt as much as I enjoyed flying a jet trainer at 400kt.
@aircraftadventures-vids21 күн бұрын
@@Lurch-Bot Those RANS ultralights look like a blast. I had a chance to briefly meet Randy Schlitter back in the 90s, not long after he crashed in the Pursuit.
@WalterJohnson-er7bt21 күн бұрын
@@Lurch-Bot I agree on must be fun first of all. I bought a Cessna 140A, a 2 seater 90 hp tail dragger. It is all metal and so sweet to fly. I bought to learn to fly and build some hours in the log book. I moved up airplane wise over the next 5 1/2 decades and got all the ratings short of astronaut. I regret every time I see a plane selling that little 140A. She would cruise at 98 knots with a little Continental C90 on 4.8 gallons per hour. These little birds were rated utility aircraft which allowed for light aerobics. In those days before middle age spread hit, she could carry full fuel my wife and I and 22 lbs of luggage.

These are rare beautiful little planes. My flight instructor owned an absolutely immaculate example with the 125 hp six cylinder Continental up graded to 145 hp. Version. Wonder if you could slap a fuel injected super charged big block in one? Bet it would fly nice with a 750 HP LS. Only thing better would be a turbo prop.
