Are my eyes deceiving me! Video Influencers is back! Great to see you!

This was very interesting hearing you guys go through the history of KZbin. I always believed that people just hitting record and sharing things out of their lives, true “Reality TV, as opposed to scripted fake reality, was what got KZbin popular in the 1st place. I don’t know if that’s just because it is the type of video I enjoy making, rather than spending my time and energy making videos for clicks and views that other people want me to make, but I’m glad that things are going in the direction that they are now. Welcome back!

What I really like about this video: No ADHD cuttings, no AI voice, no brand sponsor etc.... It's so real, easy and good to just listen while doing something else on a different tab.
@CollinMichaelАй бұрын
Here I am listening to this while editing thumbnails. Not really watching you at all. Also find myself putting something on as “background noise” to entertain me while doing something. Or on the TV while on my computer.

Great comment. Thanks Collin.
@videoinfluencersАй бұрын
the “background watch” is a huge deal. the same way people used to come home and turn on the TV for the evening, people come home, go to their TV, and **open up KZbin** today. game changer.
@MrBrindleStyleАй бұрын
Why do you mention it?
@DabsRАй бұрын
it looks like a good strategy. and it is one reason audio may count more than the video, as people listen, but don't really watch.
@DunnDifferentАй бұрын
You hit the nail on the head when talking about long videos taking away from the time people would have usually watched shorter videos. I noticed this about a year ago when many big KZbinrs started talking about how KZbin was promoting longer videos. I noticed their viewers doubling while mine went down 4x or more. I then released two videos around an hour long and they did well… but those videos took weeks to make. It’s definitely a conundrum for those of us that are used to making 10-20 minute videos.
@ElevationEveryWeekendАй бұрын
I do shorts to basically promote and drive traffic to my long form video, which I use the feature to Link at bottom of the screen.
@videoinfluencersАй бұрын
curious about your strategy - what’s in your Short vs. what’s in your longform?
@ElevationEveryWeekendАй бұрын
@@videoinfluencers I do bike based content. My long form will be usually be bike or equipment reviews or educational in nature. I will simply use the shorts to promote the topic of the long form and then steer people to those videos

Really have been cracking down on producing better and higher quality videos but I’m still in proportional decline from the last 2 years. Pushing as hard as I can but I don’t know how much longer I can push it for.

One minute in an I hear my brain going "I bet I could also grow my channel bombastically if I had hair like that Austin" I never even thought about how on KZbin, even a relatively inactive channel can be a competitor within a niche. Which is almost the most frustrating, as there is no longer the opportunity to connect and collab (for both fun and growth!).

By the way, I saw your episode on Think Media when you talked about this new style of vlogging - I applied what I learned and guess what - my latest video on my channel, is a walk and talk inside Costco Maui, is "blowing up". Not radical blow-up but slow and steady gaining lots of views. I wish I can show you the graph in the analytics - so much fun to look at. And itʻs just me and my IPhone walking around Maui Costco. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience and expertise.

It’s so frustrating! I am not keen on making short form content. I spend so much time and effort on my videos so not getting the views/subscribers is disheartening. I noticed under my ‘reach’ tab, the videos it’s suggesting mine next to are not even relevant to my content. Why is that?

youtube is not changing. human psychology is a bit. and the ultimate fact is there is sooooo much content out here to choose from and tons of competition for creators.

Longform videos may be winning, but spending the first 20 minutes of your video saying nothing other than that is not how to win, guys. Longform vids that offer about 1 idea per 3 minutes are winning. Not those repeating the same thing for 20 minutes in a row and especially not when that 1 idea you took 20 minutes to repeat and dance around is so mind-numbingly simplistic as "longform videos are being prioritized, are getting more views, getting the ad-money, even the ones with low production value - as long as they're providing interesting content and ideas." The only reason I made it to the 20 minute mark of this vid is I had it on 2x speed and I was doing something else and didn't take the time to interrupt what I was doing to come click off this.
@videoinfluencersАй бұрын
isn’t it amazing that we have videos play in the background now like you were doing for this one?? we think it’s a game changer.
@OrphanRedАй бұрын
@@videoinfluencers No. I was annoyed that I was listening to the equivalent of nothing. I'm not being mean. Just trying to be helpful and honest. My experience made it so that I won't click on long vids from this channel in future.
@videoinfluencersАй бұрын
that’s a good point - in an upcoming video, we talk about “earning” the length of a video, especially early on, and your experience here does a great job of explaining that idea. are you interested in being a part of that episode?

you’re totally right - but Mr. Beast has an entire business, employees, and a huge team. Sam Sulek commands views even with easier production, less time spent, and a smaller team (if a team at all?)
@benjaminfairbourneАй бұрын
@@videoinfluencers mrbeast can upload a black screen and get over 30 million views. but I agree with the content strategy of least input for most output 1000%! but it confuses many beginners, especially lazy beginners.
@videoinfluencersАй бұрын
totally. not everyone can be a Mr. Beast on day one ;)
@PhilChandlerArtsАй бұрын
I think I’d rather have a channel with a lower sub and view count like Sam Sulek than Mr Beast though. Mr B is way too involved, over produced, too many people and too much to keep track of. Sam just shoots and uploads. And even tho he still has a LOT of viewers, he still has more of a “community” feel to it.
