That height and pitch is exactly why I don't do roofing. Got dizzy just watching this lol

I'm a mechanic now, but I used to roof back in the day, its great seeing these videos now as a refresher because I can't afford 15,000 for a new roof. Keep up the great work Dylan.

I'm 52 and been roofing since I was 16 or 17. I still hate steep roofs. Hated them then, hate them now. We used to roof with no harnesses back in the day, did everything off of roof jacks. Love your videos.

2x4 nailed on second row and a 2x10 nailed to that. Creates an L bracket..stops anything from falling. Move your tralier around to throw each side in. No tarps needed. Just cover up flower beds with plywood for the odd piece that falls. 2 guys spaced apart correctly to get your bottom 4's on ladders.. each runner gets 9 foot ice..4 starters and 8 shingles, 2 jacks and a plank.. bottom 4 on in less then 30 minutes. After that 1 guy runs underlay while the 2nd guy gets the course ready..

I have done many roofs over the last 40 yrs,took alot of pride in my work because it was hard work,but after watching others do this type of work,I have finally realized it's a crappy hard way to make a living and I should have charged more money for doing it.

Got anxiety watching this. I think the highest I want to be off the ground is my shed roof, and that kinda frightens me too. But it needs shingles and I’m cheap and don’t want to pay someone to do it. However, when the house needs new shingles I’ll gladly let someone else do it 😅

Low key, you can carry any ladder straight right off the ladder rack. Much love brother, props to propping that ladder up the way you did tho.

@@Average_Roofer i know. Ive watched a couple. Roofing videos just started to come on my timeline. I liked the first video i seen so i subscribed to you. Just letting you know how I felt about the video ending without seeing the finished product ect. Maybe if it gets too hot in the future and you want to not wear the gopro, you can maybe take pictures or a quick video at the end so that we can see the finished product. Maybe you could look into other attachment options or stands where you could set the gopro up in a spot an it film from aside

So I'm wondering about my roof I have a smaller colonial house that has aluminum siding. It has two roofs, the side roof meets the upper level of the house. There is an aluminum edge that hangs over the top of the shingles where it meets the upper level of the house. How do I go about doing that? Is there like a strip I need to put down like when you start the shingles or does the paper just go there and you place shingles under it some how?
@Average_Roofer4 жыл бұрын
Pixel2 Xl if you are tying into a wall carefully remove the existing shingles. Under the L flashing you see on the roof there are small flashings called step flashings. As you shingle up you always tuck under the step flashing. I did a step flashing video a while ago. I’ll tag the link here

@@Average_Roofer Question for you Dylan do you guys not get rooftop delivery? you'd save money, at least where I am you would, its 35$ rooftop delivery, so pay the 35$ have them unloaded onto the roof in 10 minutes, rather then have 4 guys lug them for an hour or 2 and have to pay their wages.
@jjsroofing8604 жыл бұрын
You guys don’t like leading edge starters? I know there kinda small. Only problem with flipping a shingle rock side down is they wear out between the shingle joints. I see it all the time when we tear-off jobs done that way. Wouldn’t rock side up be better unless your concerned about the tar line not sealing.

Pretty sure there are starter shingles that are supposed to be used per manufacturer installation instructions. Can't believe whole full sized laminate shingles were used for starter.
