Vim is not the point, the point is to use key bindings instead of a mouse, which is faster, and more comfortable ( in the sense or ergonomic ) the only other reason is speed, my full blown session of helix ( which is similar to vim ), in tmux, with thousands of files to look for using fuzy finder, use less than 250mb of ram, in vscode we would be at multiple gigabytes, to have something unresponsive, to me that’s the biggest flaws of GUI editors, they are all so slow, unresponsive and buggy.

I feel like people who thoroughly enjoy vim, really enjoy taking time to customize stuff. I just want something that works well, is relatively lightweight (read: doesn't waste half my RAM) and I can easily configure for what I want, so VS Code is a perfect fit, although for Rust I do have some performance issues with the rust analyzer being slow on startup. My friends who use vim talk with joy about how they've configured their editor which makes me think the reason they like it IS because they like configuring stuff, and to some point, they're proud of the work they've done. A lot of them also go back to "updating their config" (I honestly don't know what that means) periodically, some do it monthly, some do it yearly.

I'm faster with a mouse than you with your keybinds. Either your right hand is crippled or you have massive issues if using a mouse is slower than typing. Every single time I look at "fancy" colleagues using keyboard-only navigation in whatever UI I'm constantly finding myself "waiting" for them to type it out when I already see what I want to do with the mouse.

I think that you can use vim, but not pure vim without plugins, because even with vim everything will be faster (since you won't be using the mouse), then considering that other code editors, for example, automatically close html tags or symbols like quotes or (), , {}, [] and so on, then the time will be almost equal, so vim needs to be used with at least several plugins. I love vim very much because you can use only the keyboard there, but I also love the fact that you can customize it as you like and install the plugins you like.
