Lol, I just had my second baby and was "geriatric," also called "advanced maternal age" (is that better?) I think this is exactly right. A lot of people pressure others to have kids, but as the child of an absent parent, I think it makes more sense not to have kids if you're on the fence. I thought about having kids for 12 years before deciding it was what I wanted and not something I thought was just expected of me. I tip my hat to you for knowing yourself! 💜💜💜

Happy belated birthday, Megan! 🎉🍀 I think the key is to accept things the way they are. Having kids is so deeply routed in the idea of living, because reproduction is the way every person is made. At the same time we feel pressured to meet an expectation, and try to rationalize and justify our decision not to meet that expectation. The way I see it, it's not other people's fault that this is their expectation. It's fine. Just as not living up to it. There's no need to justify or rationalize anything about not wanting kids. Personally I believe we make the mistake of philosophically solely looking at it from a reproduction perspective. However we should also look at it from an ethical perspective. It's a huge responsibility to commit to the happiness and wellbeing of a child/ human being. A human not born, is less of a pain than a living unhappy human being. So not having a child is a conservative way of dealing with this ethical dilemma. And we must always consider that among those around us who have children there'll be those who are unhappy children. It's a matter of probabilities. I don't know if that makes sense at all... 😅🙈

Hey, thank you!!!! Yes! It absolutely makes sense. I can definitely relate to some of what you're saying - in fact, one of the few things that had us kiiiiind of wanting a kid was wanting to continue the bloodline. I don't think that's enough of a reason to do it, though, personally. Life is so beautiful and there are so many wonderful things to experience. Having a kid is just one option. :-)

Hey Megan. My husband Ryan and I are also (human) child-free...I've had 2 miscarriages in the past and although we're not trying NOT to have a kid, we're not trying to have one either. The way we figured is if the good Lord sees fit it will happen and we'll be thrilled but with today's world we really don't want to raise a baby in it. All the violence, politics, and just plain nastiness going on- I think we're just fine with our fur babies.

Personally, I can't see why some people give those who don't want kids so much guff. I mean, it's not affecting them in any way. If a couple doesn't want to have children, that's on them. In fact, I can think of A LOT of people who shouldn't have had kids. But that has more to do with being terrible people in crap situations. Still, if a couple doesn't want kids, then why does it matter? I think it's just jealousy because you're living the life that they can't have because of kids. Eh...it's all good. "We are too prctical to have kids". I won't tell you what you want to hear because I actually want what is good for you. Get kids, Megan. Sacrifice your 'perfect life' and get kids. This is for your own good. Because if you don't, you will realize, when it's too late, just how truly impractical you were. Or don't have kids, it's really up to you. All I know is, I won't be blamed for what you will suffer if you choose not to. I have done my part.

You dont want kids, because he doesnt want it. You two are too selfish with your times. You dont want to give some of your time to kids. (funny coz u have time for dogs, but not kids!!!).. I would NEVER buy any of your stuff online.
