In Hollywood... character introduction is not so much done this way. Watch Indian movies not everything is good some maybe cringe ... yet I suggest war, dhoom, bahubali, there are many nothing comes to mind now. See these ...you will like the build ups. John wick is liked by all ... like the fourth was a sensation in India. However I became fan of him from the first one itself. And ofcourse who won't like Keanu reeves ❤

I say it's all the more amplified by Viggo's simple.."Oh" in response to hearing who it was. For a mob...nyet, a Russian(!) mob boss to say "oh" as in 'now I know what happened and oh shit' helped set up that little detail. It's powerful, to be sure, but I think set up by the "oh".

I read somewhere that John's official introduction was a great inversion of the horror movie "harbinger" trope, where someone knowledgeable warns the main character(s) of a coming or dormant evil and gets ignored. In this film, however, the monster (Viggo's son) in being warned that the main character is coming, and he also initially ignores it. 😆

What makes so good is that it’s the villains explaining why they are scared of him. It didnt have to show what he did, he doesnt have to prove himself, these are already basically mob bosses saying “dont mess with this guy” and when someone messed with him the head basically said “you just destroyed us, he’s going to get you, and there isn’t much I can do for you”. Such a good way to introduce the main character.

For those who dont know... Vigo poured two glasses.. gave one to his son.. Let him drink his, but didn't drink his own, and put it down on a table.. that is a sign of disrespect.. and later when he needed a drink, he poured himself a new one, not touching the put down glass.. a subtle overlook gesture by many seeing the movie, but with a significant meaning..
@dwaynedittoe2248

a way of saying you're not worth drinking with, not touching the drink later was even going so far as to say a waste of alcohol (and you usually do not attack/hurt/kill one you've recently had a drink with so left open that possibility too

When Viggo says 'Oh', it is at the moment that he realizes the reverent idiocy that his son has done and that he is already dead. That it is no longer a question of 'what if it happens', but of 'when it will happen', because he knows that John Wick is coming for his life and his soul and that he himself will follow that same path because, even though he is an idiot, He is still his son and there are rules not written in ink, but in blood, that he must follow.

This is simply the best presentation of a character, the fear in Viggo's voice, Aurelio explained to him what the son did and that ou was enough to give us an idea of something, but as soon as he starts to explain who John Wick was with that low voice and in a dark tone while John goes down to the basement he begins to hammer while he continues narrating his story that scene is perfect, at that moment you realize that a deadly massacre and shootout is coming closing with Viggo's call to John trying to calm the Cheers, the cutting of John without saying a word, to a mafia boss type, powerful and owner of an empire, it is a matter of waiting to see if this John Wick really was what he narrated and he never disappointed John was and is a masterful murderer.

The protagonist most of the time is the underdog, a nobody that somehow through the power of friendship prevails against the bad guys. Here John Wick has a reputation of being able to kill everybody and being unstoppable and it just gives you goose bumps when the badass russian mobster guys poop their pants because John is coming for them.

The funny thing about John Wick is that it wasn't just about the dog, it was about respect and being allowed to just mourn in peace. John wasn't even given the courtesy, and for it to come from a group and person who he worked for and fought for to make him the man he is that day is just one step too far. At the end of the day, John was never going to be allowed to live in peace after what he went through in his life.

I watched every John Wick movie once they had all been released in a single sitting. I hate waiting more than a year to see a second part of the movie. It’s so frustrating how long it takes to make these films so I waited until they were all released as I am a huge fan of Keanu Reeves and I don’t think I blinked more than three times during all of the films for fear of missing someone getting shot in the head in the chest at the same time. Donnie Yen who played the blind assassin. Caine and also played Ip Man {Bruce Lee teacher from China} is my old time favourite martial arts actor and as a martial arts instructor myself I can tell you the guy is Good. It was my favourite movie of the series.

To me this is the coolest way to introduce a character by having someone freaking out just by hearing their name and then telling the story of what they did

One of the bits of the writing here I like is that Viggo said "I once saw him kill three men in a bar." That makes this a first hand retelling which subtly reinforces just how dangerous John is.

I love it when John opens up his cache of weapons, and along with his pistols and ammo, there are also the gold coins, which are used to pay for the clean-up, after the battle. John Wick doesn't like to leave a mess....😊

I feel bad for Viggo. Despite the challenges he put John through, he ultimately gave him the chance to live a happy life with his wife. Until his Sorry excuse for a son brought John right back to Viggo. And in the worst way possible.

Because he was like, "I might as well find out what's up, if someone like Aurelio felt he could do this." Because the idea of one of his people hitting his son would be...unusual to say the least.
