You got that right! Culottes, long Bermuda pants, gaucho pants...it seems to be all subjective. I think the gaucho pants are supposed to look like a longer skirt but are pant legs. I can go for that but the long Bermuda pants just look odd to me.

I really appreciate the look ahead. I like to thrift for a subset of my wardrobe, so now I know what to be on the lockout for. I love baby pink, and I can picture pairing lace or tulle with something edgy. If I find bermudas that are flattering, I would be down with that. Thank you for doing all of this research!
@brendaelledge9702Ай бұрын
Agreed! 99% of my wardrobe has been and is thrifted so I buy and wear what I like according my personal style; but i do like to be mindful of trends. For example, I bought the cutest dress with a handkerchief hem this summer because I liked it and now I’m also on trend 😉

The only trends I like may be already "out." I'm loading up on red and burgundy items, and leopard. In spring I'll just go with my slightly nautical coastal look, since i live on the coast of New England. I'll leave the ruffles, lace and embellished jeans to the very young. I do enjoy just a touch of boho, like a maxi dress, in the heat of summer, to keep cool. Jamie, you look lovely in powder pink, so i look forward to seeing what you find. 😊

A tip there are miniskirt tulle underskirts - to wear with or without over skirt.
@yensid4294Ай бұрын
Love the paisley & the asymmetric hems. I like a hanky hem skirt & it's especially beautiful in tulle or chiffon. I don't mind lace detailing, especially if it's added to a sleeve or neckline on a basic tee or tank. Not sure about embellished jeans. I don't dislike them but they tend to date quickly & good jeans are often expensive. I like studding if it's a design detail. Would definitely be a case by case decision. 3D embellishments like pearls or jewels or studs can make laundering a challenge. Might be better on belts, bags & shoes.
@YourGuideToStyleАй бұрын
Thank for sharing! I agree on the embellished jeans going out quickly and laundering can be a challenge. They are fun and there are some inexpensive options even from Walmart this year. We will see what comes out for spring. It will be interesting.

So basically designers are going to flood the market with cheap looking designs all made from cheap materials, like tulle and polyester…. There are very few of these that I personally like (powder pink is always in my color palette so that’s good, and the bomber anorak) the rest are a hard pass. It was barely a year ago that they were telling everybody to get rid of their asymmetrical hems. The fashion cycle is completely moving at a faster pace these days and it’s too ridiculous to even keep up. Hopefully people are just wearing what they personally love and looks good on them.
@magdlynstrouble2036Ай бұрын
I'm 69 years old. I love to see what designers are pushing on the runways, but yeah, I've seen all these styles come and go and come around again! It's okay. The new generations get to appreciate styles I wore in the 1970s, 1990s and even 2005!
@theladynextdoor313Ай бұрын
@@magdlynstrouble2036 I also enjoy seeing the runway shows, well at least some of them. I feel like it’s very rare they come out with anything truly new or fresh tbh. It’s all been done before at this point. I do agree that the younger generations need to experience some things as well, but the quality just isn’t there anymore compared to many moons ago. I also wish that it wasn’t such a fast cycle where they’re encouraging people to be more trendy than to dress for their personal style so they are getting rid of things they could just hold onto (because so many push “declutterring” every season) and wear again later when it comes back around and that’s why the landfills and thrift stores are filling up with such cheap/poorly made fast fashion.

I would've been up for a lot of these when I was a teenager. In fact, I was getting nostalgic looking at the photos. However, that was 50 years ago. I actually like small ruffles at the neckline, but I mean small, and I already have suede shoes. Maybe they'll come out with a high-end lace blouse that's lined? I have a photo of one from circa 1980 that I always wanted but could never find. Think equestrian style, the kind that's worn with traditional English riding coats.

Not a fan of flared asymmetrical hemlines, culottes or Bermuda shorts, most of them doesn’t flatter me since I have no calves 😂 However, flared mini skirts suits me because although my calves aren’t prominent, my thighs are also slim but have some some definition so it compliments my calves and looks like complete legs instead of looking like just thighs on stilts 😂 I absolutely love lace and pinks, I have a lot in my closet already! I don’t wear jeans very much so I won’t be wearing decked out denim, I never liked any embellishments on jeans.

I only like one item, the tiered skirt. Most all the styles are for the younger generation Not for mature women who like a classy look.
