I have been to Alaska three times. First time was on a cruise around 25 years ago. The most amazing view that I remember was Glacier Bay. It was covered with a layer of ice, with seals floating on top. I went again at the same time of year twenty years later, and I was deeply disappointed that the ice was no longer there. Seeing it was a real eye opener for me to witness climate change. It went from nearly everything being white, to green trees and ocean. It was still beautiful, but just wasn’t the same.

I'm an American who's been to NZ's Milford Sound, which has the most ferocious, epic, larger-than-life scenery I've ever seen in my life. It's the crown jewel of NZ. It looked so intense that when I closed my eyes, I could see flickering after-images on the backs of my eyelids - that's how colorful the Fiordland/Milford Sound truly is.

As a Utah native, we'd love to have you visit. It's a relatively quiet place with not too many people and the nature is hard to beat. Even if you just hit the most famous places (Zion, arches, Bryce Canyon, etc) it's definitely worth a visit. The people are generally kind and welcoming and the weather (depending on when you come) can be a roller coaster. I'd love for your family to experience it first hand.

As a Florida born teen, I would say the Northeastern part of the USA is underrated. Yes Maine is in the video with the North Woods being a great place to discover, however the states of Connecticut is underrated with the small towns in the Quiet Corner (northeastern Connecticut just south of Worcester Massachusetts) where you can spend days enjoying the food - from ice cream (the best ice cream in Connecticut is the University of Connecticut Dairy Barn , however every town it seems has an ice cream place) to hot dogs (mostly you might find a person selling hot dogs on the side of the road or from hot dog carts) to hamburger (where it was created) to lobster rolls (Atlanta should try both a hot and cold in her Atlanta's Kitchen video.) to Pizza. Connecticut has history with some of the oldest towns (Windsor and Wethersfield) to a seaport museum (Mystic Seaport) to railroad museums (Essex Steam Train and Steamboat) to other museums (clock and watches, aircraft) to the oldest amusement park in the USA (Lake Compounce, not as big as Disney, not as famous as 6Flags, but it is thrilling place in the summer. If you get ESPN, the HQ is across the street. Rhode Island might be small, but there's beauty in the shoreline. Massachusetts is another underrated place, where the first shots were fired for the Independence War. Boston has the oldest baseball stadium in America with Fenway. (My recommendation is to park in Framingham, Massachusetts and take the T MBTA in. Western Massachusetts has small towns and culture with painter Norman Rockwell museum and Tanglewood the home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Vermont might has as many cows as people, but the state is a 4 season state spring is Maple Sugaring season, Summer is when tourist will stop on the side of the road and skinny-dip at a swimming hole, Autumn is when the leaf peepers comes out a see the colors on the mountains from the trees and winder for snowmobiling to skiing you can enjoy Vermont and New Hampshire is Vermont with a beach. New Hampshire has a beach on the Atlantic to the highest mountain in New England, Mount Washington. Visit New Hampshire in July and watch NASCAR at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. (As a race car driver in Florida, it is fun. Not sure if you ever watch Super V8s from Australia, but NASCAR is that. New England has lots of race tracks. It is a sport foreigners should watch ( I love F1, IndyCars and all kinds of motorize sports). My uncle' s family lives in New England, and I love going to it.

I’m from Michigan. It truly is a hidden gem. Most people outside of the Michigan/Chicago area don’t ever think of visiting so it’s a well kept secret of beauty. Also, I’ve traveled all over the world and nothing beats a summer sunset over Lake Michigan. The sky gets streaks of red, orange, yellow, purple, pink, and you see the sun set over the lake. I grew up in Holland which is a beach town on Lake Michigan and it was a wonderful childhood of climbing sand dunes to watch the sunset with friends and then watch shooting stars at night

Having been to most of the States in my country I can attest to the fact that beauty exists in them all. There are vast differences for sure, but one can appreciate those differences. Some have forests, others deserts, some touch upon oceans and Gulfs and others on Great lakes. There are forested mountains and mountains which look bare and stark, seemingly endless woodlands and seemingly endless open plains. I appreciate the beauty and majesty of them all.

So happy Michigan made it, as a native Michigander. Our Great Lakes are pure joy. The Northern part of Michigan and the Upper Peninsula (UP) is a must-see. Mackinac Island is a family tradition. I love riding horses, freely, through the woods, nothing like it....and freshly made fudge is a tradition. The downstaters, which I live in Detroit, area are called fudgies, lovingly, by locals. Those who live in the Upper Peninsula, which is spectacular in its beauty, call all in the lower peninsula trolls (we live under the bridge).

I feel like a lot of people joke about Florida, but there’s a lot of interesting and hidden gems here as well. The Florida keys are so colorful with adorable little towns and pristine beaches with iguanas and cute cats walking the streets. Also the Everglades up north in the panhandle. Not to mention some central parks like Blue Springs state park. There’s caverns too and some hidden kayaking lakes with low hanging trees and lily pads in them that are tucked away from busy roads and buildings.

I LOVE Crater Lake, having been there multiple times. It was formed when a volcano erupted and the center, (caldera), fell down into the top of the mountain, gradually filling with rain and snow-melt which caused it to become the deepest freshwater lake in the United States. There are no underground springs to fill this lake, it's all from snow and rain. It is well with the trip from Portland, as is a ninety minute drice to the coast, to see the Goonies House, or to see Mount Hood at any time of year. Skiing in Winter, or camping at your choice of many nearby lakes in the Summer. Nearby Hood River, (the town, not the River itself), has almost year-round wind conditions on the Columbia River that it has become the Windsurfing capital of the state. Every time I drive past, I see all these people out on the river having fun. Oregon also has mountain ranges, (3), and deserts, where many western movies have been filmed. I liked Oregon so much that I moved here in 1986 and am still here.. Oh, and the best part, there is NO SALES TAX on anything, even cars. In Colorado, they may have the tallest sand dune, but the ones on the Oregon coast where Frank Herbert's inspiration for his science fiction novel, "DUNE". He once worked in Coos Bay, Oregon and saw the dunes every day, which got his imagination working. Just last year, the THIRD movie of his book came out, (at least Part 1). Part 2 is filming now and is expected out next year. Utah's Great Salt Lake smells of dead fish.

@@yowyo2006 that is quite an assumption on your part. Did you consider that I might have traveled quite a bit in Wyoming and elsewhere to knowingly downgrade WY in comparison to other places? I said there were exceptions…..and it is reasonable to state the two glory spots of Wyoming as uniquely world class, but that does not rescue WY from not being known for its natural beauty. The Tetons in my estimation are the most exceptional mtns in the lower48. Devils Tower is terrific, but more an unexpected spectacular natural oddity than beautiful. Of course it’s in the eye of the beholder. It might be of value to read up on national parks and monuments and what the criteria is for their declaration, and the Antiquities act. @@kevbar1505 who is the troll here? The one saying only 2 places in Wyoming are beautiful or the one trying to point out all of the beauty that Wyoming has to offer. It is clear to me that you've traveled less of the state as I have...given that I have spent well over 30 years LIVING in Wyoming and seeing what it has to offer. Go for a hike around Devil's Tower and you will see it's beauty. You've clearly never been to Natural Bridge, Sandy Beach, Windriver Canyon, etc if you think that Yellowstone and the Tetons are the only places which hold beauty. It is such a beautiful state, but so many people only think of Detroit, our biggest metropolitan area, when they think of our state. so glad Michigan was on this list, it's such an underrated state, I live pretty far south in the lower peninsula, but something about Michigan and its people just have a certain charm to them. Ive always wanted to travel north to see the upper peninsula as well. And one thing we can say, we have both Hell and Paradise in Michigan, and if you visit Hell Michigan, you can even become the mayor of Hell for a day, while in Paradise you can even see the Niagara falls (though they are said to be more beautiful on the Canadian side). We have everything from beautiful lakes and wondrous nature, to strange gravity defying locations, though those aren't unique to just Michigan. Definitely worth a visit on your tour through the U.S. Careful swimming in the rivers though, the lampreys can be pretty nasty.

Native born and raised Californian. Glad it was on there and do have to agree with the problems here. Litter is a major problem, but mostly from all the visitors we get. Every summer, when the season was coming to an end, all the locals would hit the beaches with bags and rakes to clean up and would spend an entire weekend doing it. But it is a price to pay for how beautiful the area is I suppose. One thing I did with a visiting friend, something they'd never realized you could do, was take them to the beach first thing in the morning around sunrise, hit the waves, showered off and drove to the desert for some sight seeing and controlled off-roading and a brunch picnic, from there drove up to the mountains and a late lunch in the forested areas and finished off with a BBQ/bonfire back at the beach for sunset. It was a day to remember. Of all the states I've visited, which is a little over half, I'm surprised Virginia wasn't on the list. Would love to have you folks get to visit here in the states, I know you'd be welcomed with open arms and open hearts, you're truly loved by so many here. Keep up the great content and stay safe. I'm from Ohio and I think we have a very beautiful state. If you are a history buff like me there are a lot of historical places to visit. The Hocking Hills and Wayne National Forest is very beautiful especially during the fall when the leaves change to their fall colors. Out of the other states I have visited, I think Virginia is a very beautiful state. The state I dislike the most was West Virginia. I had a supervisor where I worked in the 80's who was from Hawaii. Two things he told me about his home state was there is a place where it is only 10 miles wide, if you were to hike that 10 miles, you would go through a tropical forest, snow cover mountain and desert like area. He also said he got a big laugh out of the tourist from the mainland. When they would be swimming in the ocean and dark clouded sky that threatened rain the tourist should quickly get out of the water because they feared they would get struck by lightning. He said it funny because they don't have many thunder storms with lightning in Hawaii. If I were to plan a cross country trip I would want to travel the Old Mother Road ( Route 66). I also would like to visit old western ghost towns. I would like to visit a small hamlet in Michigan named Hell in winter during a cold snap. That way I can say I been to hell and it was frozen over.

I lived in Newport and Lincoln city for a couple of years 24 years ago. We used to go to Portland Winterhawks hockey games all the time. Portland was such a beautiful city back then. I hadn’t been back until a few months ago and I had a tear in my eye looking at what Portland had become. You can literally dump your trash in the street downtown and nobodies going to say a word. It’s soo sad. 😞

I lived in Maine for many years at a place called North Pond, it's near Waterville. In winter the ice gets so thick you can drive a truck on it. And when the spring comes and the ice starts melting it makes a GIANT crack that sounds like a sonic boom! It's beautiful up there.

Maine deserves to be on the list. Spent many of my summers there since we lived elsewhere in New England and had many extended family there. The coastline of Maine roughly outlined comes out at about 600 miles... however when you get into the details of the contours like bays & inlets, the coastline is actually closer to 6,000 mi.

I love the North Woods area -- I have spent some time in the Baxter State Park/Mt. Katahdin area (which I have climbed), as well as in the area around Jackman. It's pretty remote, and you can paddle for days on the lakes without seeing another person. Incredible. Plus, the water is so clean you can dip a Nalgene into the lake (only in the middle, not at the shore) and not have to worry about treating it.

I'm from Utah, and have been to a few of those states, and you're right. It would take a long time to see all of those things listed in that video, especially if you wanted to spend any amount of time soaking up the scenery. Oddly enough, I have seen some very beautiful images and videos of New Zealand and I wonder what you guys have visited there. I think it's interesting how much we all tend to take for granted much of what's in our proverbial back yard.

Hello NZ Family, catching up on your videos. Happy to see Michigan make the list and hear you say it was on your bucket list. Lived most of my life in Michigan and have been all over the upper and lower peninsula. It is amazing from gorgeous pictures rocks on the largest fresh water lake in the world, Lake Superior, to the golden sand dunes of Lake Michigan, historic Mackinaw Island where no cars are allowed, to one of the most diverse cities in the world, the Motor City, Detroit .Also lived in California for 10 years and have visited 48 states including all those on this list except Washington and Oregon where I’ll be going next week. You can’t go wrong with any of them. If you think you can ever get to Michigan you have a place to stay and willing tour guides in us. Good Luck and God Bless

I live in Colorado and Mesa Verde is incredible, its pretty much long since abandoned native american communities where the buildings are cut from the bedrock on the side of cliffs. This is a simple explanation of what Mesa Verde is, and there are probably people that can give a better explanation, but I personally think Mesa Verde is so cool and wanted to share. If you are ever able to go there I would highly recommend it!

I just had to make a trip from western Washington (state) to Michigan, and return, in May. Going east, I had to drive to get there as soon as I could, but on my way back, I took my time, and once again marveled at the space and beauty one can still find in the US. The only thing that would have made the trip better was if I had carried a passenger to share the views with.

I hope you got just a glimpse of why we Americans are so darned proud of this country. Yes, we're vast and diverse. But there are so many beautiful places here. And it doesn't even have to be an ocean or a mountain or a beach. Just taking a look at a wheatfield swaying in the breeze on a clear fall day is beautiful in itself.

I was born and raised, and still live, in Oregon. There is so much beauty to love in our state. Portland is definitely unique and “weird”, but once you get out of the city, there are so many things to explore. So many different climates! My favorite thing about Oregon is our four seasons. You get equal parts of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. It doesn’t generally get too hot here (excluding June 28th, 2021 when it reached 117°F….MASSIVE record set), not too cold. I live in the Portland Metro area and most years, we get 1-2ft of snow (Portland and surrounding cities are in a valley). Summer temps usually are in the 80s-90s with, on average, 7-10 days of 100°F+. The coastline is incredibly beautiful, rivaling many other states’ coastlines. And yes….The Goonies was filmed in our state, about 2 hrs from where I live. Also, the NZ Fam seemed a little confused about Crater Lake. It was an actual volcano that blew its top millions of years ago. It is now dormant and the island in the middle of the lake is the peak of the volcano that fell into itself when it erupted. It is also the deepest lake in the United States, one of the deepest in the world. I welcome anyone to come to our state and enjoy our beauty..just please don’t litter!

Wizard Island in Crater Lake is actually from a later eruption, and also has a tiny lake on the top of it. It used to be Mt Mazama, but the eruption was so strong that it disintegrated most of the mountain. And the hills around the Klamath Basin are dotted with lava rocks that came from Mt Shasta several thousand years ago.

The city I live in Ogden was actually a wild wild west town back in the day and has a very interesting history. It's so diverse here. You can go up into the mountains, desert and forest all in a day. There's so much to see and do here. Idaho is beautiful as well. When you decide on coming make a plan on where and how long it's going to travel to each place. Maybe rent a camper trailer and decide what campgrounds to use and for how long. It's going to be an amazing trip!
