She always starts like a warm blanket....her vocals, her tone wraps around you and as the song progresses the blanketing vocals begin to enter, permeating the listeners soul. Every performance is an existential eternal experience of perfection. Her inflections in vocally presenting the lyrics are insanely perfect and so seemingly effortless. Some reactor said she ". doesn't cover the songs she upgrades" , totally agree. As of now she is the ultimate best.

I have heard only 3 female singers who so deeply impressed me from the very first. Two popular singers and one opera singer. Linda Ronstadt was the first in 1969 Lucy in 2021 and Patricia JANEČKOVÁ in 2020 she was an opera singer sadly died last year at 26 from breast cancer. Many good singers but that level of sheer talent is very rare and needs real dedication to reach its full potential.

Juliet, I agree that this is beautiful. Some things I noticed: 1. End of first verse she holds onto the last note with a very light vibrato on it. That makes for a very smooth transition into the second verse. 2. I have noticed that her vibrato is particularly evident when singing a word ending with a 'eeee' sound. That's where her vibrato really shines with power. 3. Her body language is really active in this one; many times bring hands to chest to emphasize her involvement in this piece. 4. The volume and impact increases in each verse and by the last verse she's really laying into into it. In this piece she didn't drop down drop down to a few lght one. And no smile except the poster.

To take on a Whitney Houston classic is brave and most would fall well short but Lucy doesn't only do it justice she actually sings it with more purity then Whitney did, Lucy Thomas is rapidly ascending into one of the greatest if not the very greatest female singers of all time and if she sounds this amazing and she has barely reached adulthood just imagine how unbelievably brilliant she'll be when she is a more mature woman in her 30s or 40s. The world is literally her oyster!

Yes Lucy Thomas is a good classic singer opera singer don't compare her to Whitney Houston I feel that you're kind of stretching it there there was only one Whitney Houston God Rest her soul that's what gets me about all the women over there in the UK and guys they copy American songs like they can do it better keep in mind there's copyright laws are copyright laws some families wouldn't take kindly to that and as far as that singing coach there I've definitely seen better

She's getting there slowly but surely she has some big concert dates coming up in Tokyo and London and will be starring as the lead role in the Musical Theatre production of Rosie in the WestEnd next year, it's worth remembering that a career in the music industry is a marathon not a sprint at least if you're aiming for longevity and to build a legacy and not just in the business to make a quick buck then fade into obscurity.

Concerning Lucy's vibrato; As you know Lucy can sing any genre. And being the professional that she is, she applies her vibrato in accordance with the genre, from what I can tell. As it should be. Pop ballads such as this she seems to apply the faster vibrato. Musical numbers and classicals such as "Evergreen" the slower vibrato and more straight tones. Your the expert though not me. Am I correct in this?

To: @JaapFilius - Perhaps it is that some songs carry the hallmarks of their birth. This song was featured and produced for the Summer Olympics of 1988. In a sense it is a 'manufactured song'. I would say it lacks an emotional authenticity or spontaneity in the lyrics and the momentum of the melodic structure too predictable or regimented. I can see the appeal but to myself it seems a trite 'twee'.

Hi Juliet, I like Lucy a lot but honestly, there is someone I like a lot more and I bet you don’t know her. She’s not a belter, but neither were Karen or Olivia. She’s different. Her voice has been described as; velvet, melting chocolate, molasses, honey, a warm hug. She dares to cover both Karen and Olivia. So those are the examples I’m linking. I don’t think you do blind reactions, you analyze. That’s fine, I’m giving you plenty to analyze. Let’s just say; she’s only just begun. Below are two of her recent collaborations that will give you a nice example of her voice. We’ve Only Just Begun: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGqYnZmAptRsjLssi=CkOUftkeV91OaXL6 Suddenly: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqOummyml9V3d6ssi=pvUuVR6vSaUslfKs Here’s a bit of background on Tori Holub (Ha Lubb), she’s 20. Last April she was one of 8 invited acts and the youngest to sing at The Carpenters 55th Anniversary. She has two original songs that were offered to her by the writers after hearing one of her videos. One of the writers wrote the last Top 40 song for the Carpenters, I think he knows a great voice. On her “I” channel she drew high praise for her short cover of Rainy Days and Mondays. It was given by Paul Williams, who wrote the lyrics. Another who has experience with a great voice. So, I think she has merit for you to take a moment in time and take a listen. See what I did there? Thanks for your time, Joe
