It occurs to me you could solve most of these issues preemptively by not having any friends. Seems like I dodged a bullet. Lol

The BIGGEST LIE You've Been Told About Money is that it doesn't grow on TREES!! 😆
@CamdenVanderlaanАй бұрын
I agree with you!! Money actually grow on trees but only on trees that was planted by you!! These tress are referred to as investments. How you diversify your investment portfolio matters

The Courtney situation in the beginning of the video happened to me once at a bachelorette party. I literally got an order of french fries and a water. Everyone else ordered full meals as well as a few cocktails. The maid of honor in this particular situation was not the nicest person, and was kind of a B word. She was a little tipsy at this point, and she kept insisting that we should just split the bill evenly because it was “less complicated.” I was like “dude. I literally ordered a five dollar side of fries and a free cup of water. I don’t mind splitting the cost of the bride’s meal evenly - since she’s the bride and all - but aside from that, I am only paying for my order. It’s not my responsibility to pay for your fancy meal and 5 cocktails.” She already didn’t like me much, so it wasn’t difficult for me to say. Had it been anyone else, so may not have had the guts to be so forward.

I thought it was common for everyone to ask for separate checks. I’ll be more than happy to pay for my meal, but I’m never splitting a check. I’ll order/pay for what I want and my friends can order/pay for what they want 🤷♀️ I would never spend money I couldn’t afford, I’m sorry there are people that feel like they can’t speak up

If the amount of food and drinks we order are roughly around the same amount then I split. If my friend orders a ton of drinks or a very expensive dish, I always tell the server to charge me for what I ordered and to put the rest on my friends card. I don’t even go into the I’m trying to be responsible speech. It’s common courtesy to pay for your meal if you are being more extravagant than the group.

I have great nieces & nephews that have too many toys. Is there a way I can open an account that will grow over time for them VS. giving them gifts that will be broken in a week? Thanks for your guidance.

I would never split the bill evenly. Wtf kinda idea is that? It's basically if someone wants to get something expensive and have others take the weight off him.

Any advice on nosey in laws that desperately want to know how much you inherited from your family? My family has always impressed on us since childhood that we don’t talk about money to others and i was given explicit orders to not disclose the inhertance. I avoided talking about it to the in laws because Fil is all into get rich quick schemes and eventually my Mil and two Sil’s cornered me in a hotel room and kept asking. I told them we don’t talk about money, it’s considered rude in my family to ask. They responded with well we are family so you can tell us! I said it doesn’t affect them so they don’t need to know and I can’t discuss it anyways. After 10 years they have finally stopped asking, at least directly. Now they just say things like oh, if the housing market crashes, you’ll have cash to snap them up right? Ughhh…

Honesty really is the best way to avoid ackward situations and also learn who your real friends are. I'm always upfront that I'm on a budget and eating out is a treat for me in and of itself. If my friend wants to do the whole appitizers, drinks, dessert thing that's awesome but I'm not splitting that bill they can pay for there meal I'll pay for mine. I like doing it this way as everyone gets the experience they want and noone is stressed about blowing there budget or feeling like they can't have the experiece they want because there friend is on a more limited budget. It really doesn't have to be awkward and if the person you're dining with makes it awkward or feels some kind of entitlement that you pay more than your share of the bill they're probably not someone you want in your life anyway. I agree that the bill should be settled at the table if seperate cheques aren't an option, noone should be on the hook for everyone else's night out it's just good manners to pay the person back then and there.

cant stand ppl that make alot of money or way more money than you and are tight asses in relationships, its unattractive, shes right equity dosent mean 50/50 all the time , and i say this cuz ive dated ppl that work in Mcds and lowpaying jobs and were very generousness and thoughtful even if they diddnt have much to offer money wise, therefore i hold ppl that make alot money to a higher standard cuz theres no excuse, iam not saying that i want them to pay for everything it just shows alot how a person is

Always reminds me of that Friends episode where they want to split the bill and cover Monica’s portion because it was her celebratory dinner! After watching that episode, the SAME EXACT THING literally happened to me and my roomie with our other roomie and her coworkers. There were like 12-15 people eating and a lot of them were adults who were older than us and had the income. But we were all under 25 and not making a lot of money. It was awkward, but me and my roomie, who ordered very conservatively, were happier about the bill we paid vs lessening everyone else’s expensive bills
