this one is so good and helpful!! I've never even thought about how looking at structures of genres can help you break them in a better way. It makes perfect sense though! I am an animation student and in art school they really drill into you that observational drawing and understanding how to draw volume will let you break it in a more deliberate way when you get around to drawing cartoons and more flat stylized things. When you said that at the end, about song structure, the whole video suddenly became 100x more valuable to me! I feel like my understanding of how to write music grew a lot just from this one video, so thanks underbelly!

I have to study those 9 minute long house tracks, and then find a way to cut them in half and spice them up more. I’m realizing it’s definitely not that people don’t LOVE house music, but the attention spans since the early 90s are entirely different. People like phonk songs that don’t even hit 2 minutes long. Finding a happy medium between 9 minutes and 2 minutes is the goal
