Rare non-meme comment: Seriously the biggest lesson to learn when it comes to creating energy in a track is to learn to take things AWAY for a bar or something before reintroducing them again. Play around taking things away, don't keep adding more and more. That won't work in most genres.

Copying scenes (cmnd d) and then adjusting the copy is a great way to experiment with transitions. You can also cmnd-d on midi clips, then double click the new clip to bring it up in the editor & adjust notes, add new ones, etc. to experiment with changing up hits, lengths, etc. while still staying in time. A great time saver.

All those ASS loops together sounded like the experimental band, Praxis. One thing I'll add that I wish producers would do more of: key changes. Too often songs, these days, stay stuck in the home key. Also, tonic minor to submediant major (or vice versa) is done to death, both in pop music and movie/TV sound tracks. It's become a welcome surprise, when a song doesn't use that overused chord sequence.
