The story and the telling of it ...capital❗️

So easy to be jealous of writers and their sensitivity to both reality and the imagined to turn their experiences into stories. On top of this there's the narrator's ability to turn the story into a living experience.

I read this in my youth, and it inspired me to travel and to live! - that was 30 yrs ago. so so good to hear it narrated so well, what a magnificent story, what insight on life's trials, on futility and resolution, on the fierceness of youth and the reflections of older age ! Conrad was a master - for me the fire still burns, though dimmer than it did, but i tend it more carefully now, keeping it alight, there yet remain distant shores to explore, and new things to experience - though time is shorter than it was, there is yet time my friend :)

It's a beautiful story, isn't it? Must read it again. I'm just enjoying some Conrad at the moment. One of the Captain Lingard trilogy.

ah very good, I must read more of his works myself. I just discovered your channel, enjoying it very much! if you get chance, you might check out my other channel SavageBites - I write, illustrate and narrate short horror fiction over there, also a few readings of works by HPL and others :)

hi Art of the Brave - you have written so beautifully the sentiments of getting older. "though the time is shorter ... there is yet time my friend." you must a delightful partner in life. I had a fleeting glimpse of a man like you - our time was together was very short. while I am stuck here in New York, I'll make up stories of your travels. you bring out the poetic in me. :) keep safe 🌊⛵🌷🌱

It is so wonderful to read/hear a tale told by an artist of Conrad's caliber. you hear other stories and enjoy them quite a lot, then you read a story by a master with so many nuances, meanings, emotions, and descriptions that you are transported. I wonder how Tolstoy or Balzac feel in their language, written to such perfection. we only get an inkling of that, even thought the story still is deep and beautiful - even the upsetting ones. Thank you so much Greg - I'm so glad I started listening to you again. . . 🌊⛵🌙🌷🌱

Thank you Spanish. The writing is truly sublime with Conrad working in his 3rd language. Bit embarrassing for the rest of us.

Greg, I listened to this last night but kept falling asleep, thanks to your lullaby-like voice. 😁 I listened to it again and my verdict: you did another fantastic job here, Greg! The character Marlow's voice is so perfect for a sailor, with a commanding spirit and bravery! I really love the character and your voice is just so divine! I love the story. Conrad was a genius writer. Thank you for sharing this. 🤩
