Denny, I'm a new subscriber and this is OUTSTANDING. It is GREAT to see kids getting involved in traditional muzzleloading. They are the future of the sport. Your muzzleloading videos are the best produced that I've seen on YT. The cinematography and editing are top notch. As an aside, I read your blog post about going back to traditional muzzleloaders after getting tired of all the tacticrap. At 50, I'm on a similar journey. I learned to shoot on airguns, .22s, and smokepoles back in the 70s and 80s. Got interested in milsurps and then AKs and ARs. For the past couple of years my interest has shifted to replicas of 19th Century lever actions, shooting black powder cartridges with bullets I cast at home. And I'm also getting back into muzzleloaders. Happy new year and keep your powder dry. Dave Markowitz

That's awesome , most adults don't know anything about the muzzleloaders , maybe we should have the kids teach a class

real great stuff, denny. were the rifles provided for the kids? what caliber(s)? not much recoil, looked like very light loads. i also noticed most sported delrin ramrods for safety. i've been trying to get a local trad ml kids shoot going at my club and yer scoop would come in handy.

I do not know who owns the rifles.

Hello rfdsrd. These boys are with Flathead 4-H Shooting sports. All the rifles are .50 caliber, loaded with 50 grains Goex FFF. Two of these boys own their rifles and the other is a club rifle.

Yes, and very well deserved. But take note, they're shooting cap & ball. The "Old guys" MOSTLY shoot flint rifles. A generation removed, and giving support to the next.

I am cringing as those fellers rake those beautiful old rifles across that raw wood....... I guess if you are gonna use them then use them. Looks like a LOT of fun. Those guys look serious too!
