Just an update as to where we're at on our end here, with the slow progress on the new shop, dealing with the KZbin Partner Program, and some packages that have come in the mail.
Sorry, no machining in this one, just talking, but I just wanted to publicly say thanks for what has been shared with me.
As always, thanks for watching!

Hi Everett, you did the right thing by signing up to Partners Program as you will at least have some control over the number of ads that appear. Yes, you can go into monetization settings and remove mid roll ads and also control how many, what type of ads appear. Any revenue is also handy as an aid to supporting the channel. I hope it all goes well. Cheers Rob
@EverettsWorkshop

Thanks Rob, although I primarily joined to just share as part of the group it just seems like this is what I have to do at this point to maintain some direction over what happens with the channel, like you say. And, to be honest, if they're going to roll ads anyway, at least part of it can help the shop keep going. Once it's built up again, that is, lol!

The advertising ship has sailed. We expect to see ads on everything, and nobody thinks less of creators because of ads. It's the game as she's played. Congratulations on the decision to devote yourself to full-time parenting. It's incredibly hard work, and even harder because people don't know how challenging it is. It's a gift to your kids you'll never regret.

Thanks Rod, a lot of people don't quite get it when I say I'm a stay at home dad, but there are many things of other people's lives that I can't say I would truly understand either. We just want the best for our kids and this is how we're trying to make that happen. As for the ads, well, it just is what it is, and at least this way I can still have a say in how the program runs on my channel versus having no control whatsoever.

Like the thumbnail Everett, yes YT has become a monster, a corporate monster, stipulating ads, means that they want more viewers paying premium membership. Thanks, it's just how the sands in the sand box have shifted and what appears to be the most prudent direction to take the channel to maintain some semblance of influence in how it functions. I can understand the need to keep the lights on and the servers powered, especially with the rising cost of electricity and computer hardware but admit it was a bit inconvenient for timing. Very thankful for the shaper tool from Rustinox, as well as Matty's hat and Gene's tapping tool, for sure.

@@EverettsWorkshop Hi Everett, Valid points, I take back some of what I said about YT, it's a difficult business model, the majority of uploaders have purchased equipment, and editing software to create something that want to share, so also paying a subscription for example would be off putting. Others range from pure Money vlogs, to others being sponsored, so a subscription is a business expense. Not sure what the solution is though 😅

Just the mild chaos that is my daily life lately, lol. Will be catching your new episode probably later today after the yard work is done and kids are in bed. As for the stickers, it is a lot of fun getting letters from like minded people from all over the world, I still get a thrill out of them from both other creators and viewers.

I resisted as long as I could too. The notification came out back in November if I remember that they were going to put ads on everyone's channels if they wanted to. Hopefully staying at home now you can get an hour or two in here and there and make progress on the garage shop.

I held off as long as I could but they forced the ad issue recently so I got registered for the YPP. At least this way I can have control over ad activity on the channel. If I don't put anything on then they will likely fill them with ads by default. Not going to to Patreon either as once people have a subscription or it's a sponsorship thing then there is a pressure to produce often and regularly.
