Youtube drama, cancellations and demonetization cancel culture

KZbin has a history of cancelling creators or demonetizing them over political views. The most recent was Russell Brand. However, now the powers that be are going after travel channels that are not political showing cultures that KZbin deems inappropriate or not advertiser friendly. I feel that they should simply let the fans decide what they want to watch and what they do not want to watch without giving in to Cancel Culture. Now they deem Filipino food culture to be shocking and deserving limited reach and limited monetization. Really do not know why the world should not be exposed to the wonderful culture of the Philippines or other countries.

I'm an expat living in the Philippines, and I watched the video you are describing. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that video. That's normal prep for lechon. Western culture likes to hide where the meat comes from in neat tidy cellphone wrapped packages. It's so offensive that KZbin replied to you saying it's disgusting. Who are they to judge.

The pandemic changed YT and other internet media as we knew it. So many have jumped on the boat of making a living over the internet since. What is baffling, is that now you can see semi naked girls on YT with links onlyfans, AI sexualised slideshows videos, shorts and clickbaits are all over the place. That puzzles me daily.

@@DrLawaytravels I'd say another "new normal", yeah! However, Facebook has been doing for years what YT has been doing recently. Demonetizing, banning channel ( page on FB) out of the blue. For these reasons I feel relieved to have never really invested on YT and FB. Today you have a business, tomorrow you don't know it if you rely on these two big companies. I can't live with that. My condolences to all those who have been hit by the sudden changes. And I can only cross the fingers and hope it will never befall onto me, in a form or another.

The problem is these online companies get so big that they start to get corrupted and greedy. Being an entrepreneur, I have seen it with Ebay, Uber and many others. The companies change the rules and keep moving the goal post in their favor. In 2006 me and my cousin Ebay business was shut down because a customer lied about a Xbox console we sold her. We offered to send another one. She wanted a refund. Ebay made us giver her a refund she kept the Xbox and they shut us down for an investigation which destroyed they business. I would never have a business that someone else can control. You can put all that work and it can be takened away just because someone in the corporate doesn't like it. It is very dangerous to rely on You tube to fund your life.

Every company has a few petty employees that are so insecure they will go on a power trip, if given the opportunity, to put the hammer down on someone w/o a legit reason. Apparently KZbin has given authority to a few of these petty, immature people who can wipe out someone’s livelihood on a whim w/o care and understanding of the value of their content or real consideration of the mature viewers that bring KZbin so much revenue. it’s obviously the simple opinion of one petty individual w misplaced authority that ends up making such unfair calls. I don’t know how many employees are in charge of screening content but there has to be hundreds- mostly of good or excellent discretion. it only takes a couple bad apples to discredit good content providers. hopefully KZbin screens their own screeners more thoroughly to protect their creators - and their reputation. or creators and viewers will just go to more fair and generous platforms.

They have probably the obligation to be as sure as they can be that just people with the right age and from certain countries can look at it and make the video only visible when you are logged in. So many channels that I follow are also setting up on places like Rumble and Locals. This seems like a good move whatever the content of your channel. Some have mentioned that once your subs reach a certain amount you will have youtube looking at your content more closely.

Repost everything on X formerly known as Twitter and all other video streaming platforms that pay content creators a share of the advertising revenue, so when it's not worth the effort to stay on KZbin then you won't have anything to worry about because you'll have two or three other platforms paying you for the same content.

I've certainly had it with the far right and far left in the US, being much more of a center-left guy myself, who's a strong supporter of free markets and liberal democracy. However, my impression is that KZbin, and Google more generally, only care about money. I don't think it's ideological, but they do make mistakes in developing algorithms, and their AI makes mistakes when it comes to trying to avoid scaring away advertisers and viewers. Of course, it's bad for them business-wise when popular, monetized channel is cancelled unjustly, as it obviously costs them money. Unfortunately, their approach to content moderation is far from perfect, and is sometimes too risk averse.

I don't know how to say this without consequence but maybe promoting the Philippines as a great place (and it is) is encouraging people to move there and affecting country's income more than we know, money governs everything. I'm an omnivore, as humans tend to be, and while I respect vegetarians and vegans, including their morality, I do not think their morality should be forced on the rest of us. Some of them tend to fail to recognize the obvious reality that humans evolved to eat both meat and plant-based foods. I think the solution to the ethical dilemmas concerning the harvesting of animals for meat will be solved technologically, as artficial meat becomes more enjoyable to eat and cheaper to produce.

A cautionary tale indeed. A KZbin channel is not owned by the creator, rather, the Google god has dominion. Depending on someone else to sustain you may not by a viable business plan. I wonder how many creators have read the terms and conditions and licensing agreement. I've seen creators complain about unexplained decreased review changes from various sources for a long time. Always something different. My opinion is there is a glut in Philippines KZbinrs and the law of diminishing returns might suggest growth or even stability is unobtainable over a long haul. The living in a van movement is the same. Eventuallly there is a saturation point. Rick Steves has a good model. Create a website where your content will be available to different sources and don't film chickens.

This is kinda cool in a way , because I was actually putting together some stuff for my next video on this exact topic.. on what KZbin is doing, a channel a friend of mine his channel was taken down and he doesn’t know why . He had over 400K subscribers, his video’s was getting more than 10k per video. Honestly I think it’s unfair for whatever reason.. anyway I am looking at other options such as rumble .. I hear many people are moving there channels over to other platforms.

Very good point. It invalidates you being on "the right" or "the left" because the taxes go to pay for each one. I think there is your problem. it is usually the left doing the cancel culture thing, but they will actually slam you hard as possible with both feet (bipartisan?) when you come for them. And by not paying your taxes (or if you figure out an alternative?), no matter which one you agree with, you are public enemy #1 because you represent cutting off their supply of bread and butter. Also, it could very much be the LGBTQ people throwing their weight around. Like the leftists and feminists, the passport bros represent a HUGE loss of revenue for them too, because if everyone leaves for some other country, the males WILL be happy, and the females will ultimately be unhappy. If they don't make babies and there is only a tattooed cesspool of purple and green-haired gremlins, they will exit stage left, and many of those purple and green haired demons work at/for youtube and will take it out on you personally.

I keep all of my content on hard drives as well as cloud back up which is what I would suggest to all content creators. One of my friends unfortunately did not and has no back ups of his vids after they closed the channel.

From what I saw from your short it was about the same as a US southern BBQ cook-off. Oh, cool! You linked to the video in question. I will watch it now. I like your videos by the way. Your mic seem to reduce the loudness of the bikes and horns so they are not bad. Okay, i watched the video linked at the end of this one. Don't know for sure if it was the one KZbin had a probem with. Nothing there offended me. Made me hungry but not offended. And I wonder what sauce they were using ? Not like the various SE USA BBQ's? I suppose the "woke" may have had a problem with the event's carbon foot print or maybe all the dead pig bodies laying around. And I guess if you are a member of some religions you might have a problem with being there and just breathing the air. But nothing I can guess.

The sauce is much more mild than US southern bbq. The texture of the pork here is much more tender from the cooking method than I have had from Southern pit bbq as well. They also stuff the hog with plants and herbs that give most of the flavor.
